Why are we continually having bids on players turned down . Going in with offers way below valuations . If CW indicates to the board which player he is interested then go in with a reasonable offer . Again we are loosing out to the likes of Barnsley when clubs receive better offers . We can't prepare for the championship season with backing the manager

You clearly haven't followed this thread.

And while we're on the writing tip.....your final comment should include "without", not "with".

BTW I've just spotted the thread title.

Nothing like a glass quarter full is there?

We might as well get down the car park now with our pitch forks and try and get McCabe out.

I'd be a lot more concerned losing out on a right back to Barnsley if we hadn't just signed a right back.

I think people should keep their powder dry at the moment as it's still early days.

We've signed 4 already.

How many have you signed? Surely you need a replacement for Rhodes? ;)

It could be Gabby Logan with her tits out, legs spread and whispering 'come on boys'.

For the avoidance of doubt this is a dig at the S6 Massive and not in any way intended to doubt the upstanding Mrs Logan's moral standards.

Still worth one though........

Which players have we had bids turned down for this transfer window?

Good post. Sack the board

I am sorry, but I doubt you have listened to a single word uttered by CW since he joined us.

If you had then you wouldn't have created the OP as you could have answered your own questions.

As for a reasonabler offer - that is exactly what CW is doing. His offers are what HE thinks is reasonable on behalf of SUFC, not the SUFC philathropic society.

As for Barnsley - they are desperate. Since they won at Wembley in the PO, they have lost 6 quality/decent players and have not replaced them with like for like. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for other signings.

Totally agree.

Virtually everything Wilder touches turns to gold.
He's talked about players passing the personality test, they need to be hungry and want to join SU.
He's talked about not wanting highly paid disloyal mercenary players, like other clubs in the area (SW).

So far, that policy has worked wonders, so we have to trust Wilder.

How do you know we're not bidding higher because CW doesn't think the player is worth that much, rather than it being a limitation on budget. My guess is, CW has been given an overall budget and he's divvying it up accordingly. To be honest, had we paid the rumoured amount the Dingles paid for McCarthy I'd be more concerned.

I also suspect CW wants to keep some of the budget in reserve as he's never managed at this level before and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit he's in a learning situation and may need to bring in re-inforcements once he's got the feel of the place.

How much?

I don't believe we were in for McCarthy until I hear Wilder (or one of the holy trinity) say it. The diligence that Mitchell, Knill, Wilder put in to identifying viable targets means we are hitting most of them.

I was just about to say exactly the same. Tufty could not have articulated his approach more often or with greater clarity.

Yet those promulgating an agenda choose to take no notice. They are also very good at spending other people's money...

Better than championship on the extortionate.
10 million for Rhodes, what a joke. Trott off Porker

We make offers below valuation (ours) in the hope of securing a bargain. We then, if necessary, make offers bang on valuation (ours). It has worked okay so far. To repeat yet again, Tufty controls the offers. Blame him if you don't like his policy.

As a matter of interest, which Championship clubs are not doing it on the cheap? Which have been spending and how much?
