He's better off at Bury. I had doubts that he would have played much next season and his decision to turn United down for Bury has confirmed that to me. He didn't back himself to get into our team and earn himself a better deal. He wouldn't have had the confidence and self belief to force his way in.

I would have backed myself and taken the opportunity to play at a higher level. I suppose we're all different though. Good luck to him all the same.

Honourable decision by Jay in my eyes. Obviously wants to play football ahead of being paid more to sit on the bench
If this is the case I echo your comments , we talking about this over a pint or nine last night , knowing that your career is approx 15-18 yrs long if your lucky enough to stay injury free & if you'd got half a brain ( big ask with some players I know ) you'll be financially solvent , with that in mind surely you'd want to play the game we all love , I played at a decent level myself when I was younger and at his age I know I would rather drop a level and play the be squad player .. I could never get the reserve keeper at Newcastle Steve Harper .. spent something like 19 seasons getting splinters in his arse .. yeh he'll be minted .. but what a waste of a career & yer life ?!?!

Had it in my head that he would have been wanted by the 'big' League 1 teams.

Maybe there's something we don't know about Bury that's pulled him.

Never understood that myself either! Must've really enjoyed it at Newcastle though. I'd happily sit on the bench for united each week in fairness given half a chance!

On paper not many if any will beat that front 3 in league 1

Out for 6 weeks - knee ligament damage.

Cue Alan Partridge gif!
