Gotta be the one worn in the promotion season vs Leicester! As a 15 year old lad I never took it off my back !

If the simple rule of no home colours to predominate for away kits, 3rd kits would disappear. In the vast spectrum available, surely no red or white creates few problems and allows for plenty of imagination?

You would still get some form of clash on occasion. Remember that season that Newcastle played Wednesday at home and they both played in away kits?

Apparently this was deemed a clash:

And this is definitely a clash (despite Weds having no black in their home kit):

So Weds designed a special shirt (In white, with Black trim o_O):

Which was still deemed a clash with their home shirt:

So Newcastle played in their away shirt (which was blue). I'm not sure what combination was worn at hillsborough though.

Think Sabella would've looked cool as fuck in ANY shirt!
You reckon?

Remember watching this game, would like to know if this was Pigs or Puma's idea to come up with colour combination of white and black for a game at Newcastle:confused:

My eyes, my eyes, good god in heaven, my eyes are bleeding.

That properly smacks of the 'template' shirt that it is.

Last years away shirt was our first non-template away shirt since adidas came in. What I mean by that is the main body of the shirt where we chose black with orange pin stripes. All other away shirts have been 100% templates where all we've chose is the colours.

Having said that, I'm still after that yellow/black third shirt in a medium. Regarding this years away shirt I'd be delighted with a yellow (failing that, white or black) version of this, with the red stripes, collar and sleeve cuffs.

All White or all Black with either black or white Adidas trims and logo would look smart as fuck and could be worn for more than just a game of football. Casual, smart and sporty, what's not to like?

That Newcastle/Wednesday kit clash was stupid and avoidable, but since then Newcastle themselves have had a lot of black, white or grey away shirts, if they had to play another team in black and white stripes in a cup they'd probably need another kit.

There was another weird one at Newcastle a few years back, they were playing Hull and the ref for some reason decided that black/white stripes clashed with black/amber and made Hull change. That might not sound too bad, except Hull's away shirt was grey, and it was foggy.

Some teams who play in blue get away with navy away shirts against other blue teams, so I don't see why we can't have a really dark red one, maybe with some dark grey hoops make it different enough that you could still play someone like Forest or Barnsley in it.

I know wont be popular, but I like the idea of blue, not pig blue bit citeh blue, away kit like the new York citeh kit from this season. Sky blue with white shorts and blue socks

This in white, but with a round collar, and black shorts.

Stupid arse pigs. OK for the dim witted, striped home, solid away. Though for the life of me I can't understand why the two home shirts were deemed a clash. No issue for them now the dolphin killer has got rid of stripes.

Found the green one in the loft the other day. That was when the sponsor label was properly done. Also found the red shorts to go with the luminous yellow. Bit small for me now

Exactly. Under that logic, we should never wear our home shirt at Hillsborough.

I can understand it when West Brom play either Newcastle or Wednesday but not Weds v Newcastle.

I don't think it would happen today. They would probably have just made sure the shorts/socks were different colours. We often play at Hillsborough in White shorts so not to clash with their black.

Shouldn't be a problem these days now they're Ipswich pt.2

I hope we don't get anything as shit as this. That piping is horrendous, looks old fashioned and not in a good way.

Problem with many shirts is that they don't transfer very well onto a computer screen. Birmingham's home shirt uses the same template, a close up is here. It's the fabric when you see the shirts in the flesh that make it "less bland" that it looks on screen.

Their white away kit has actually got a slightly different colour white on the sleeves to create a hooped effect:

Either of those, in yellow and red would look quality. Or even white with black

What do people prefer as the main colour on our away shirt? I think I know what the answer will be.

Mine is solid Yellow or White with red trim.

Vote away.

This may help refresh your memory of your favourite one. (83 or 86 for me)

Love this mattbianco1 cheers for sharing. My first away kit was the purple and yellow 95-97 avec kit and I also loved the 98-00 yellow and black le coq sportif kit.

Does anyone know anyone selling 93-95 purple and teal laver away kit? I would love one of those bad boys.

First shirt I had was 1986-89 away and I think that is still my favourite away shirt. Either that or the 83-86 one.

Other favourite away shirts are:
89-91 Luminous
93-95 Blue
94-95 Teal
95-97 Yellow/Purple
97-99 White

They've all been shit since then
