The club he's supported all his life as well

Do we know he's a Boro fan or just from Boro or Stockton to be precise? Either way its great that he has chosen us over his local club!

I think things were delayed last year due to having to clear the decks ie Hammond etc. No such issues this year, those leaving are not high earners.

Times or Telegraph (can't remember which) reported this week that the atmosphere in the Boro dressing room was close to poisonous this season - given the obvious opposite in ours, he might just want to come to a club that's moving in the right direction.
someone been letting flares off?

This is the advantage of having a manager who knows the lower leagues. He's signing the right sort of players and this lad sounds like another good signing (assuming of course he does !)

I can imagine there will be a mixture some lower league some players with real championship experience , some young talent etc.

Very much looking forward to the next few weeks.

do you think we'll get black and pacey?

that will be six
Sharp
Ched
Clarke
Thomas
Lavery
Hanson

cant see unless one or two move on him buying another striker, he likes a tight squad and people fighting for the shirt, do you think we will see one or more leave?

I'm not going to expect him to be brilliant straight away as 2 divisions is a big step up, but I'm sure CW and AK will be able to progress him into a regular and he's very young. Che Adams we'll be finishing above your team next season!

Thomas is a winger really, we definitely need another goalscorer. None have a recent championship track record, infact only Billy has ever scored goals at Champ level before.
Clarke as good as he can be is injury prone. Ched isn't the player he was before and might take a long time to get up to speed anyway. Hanson scored 1 goal after signing for us and Lavery is on the comeback trail from injury.

Pinning all our hopes on Billy could be a disaster and it'd be unfair on him, the squad and us as paying fans.

Hope it's not, not enough firepower yet

He's a striker? I thought he played on the wing?

Quite correct he is a winger not a forward, I thought with the goal tally he was a striker but glad to be corrected and also leaves room for another forward in the squad and a few more additions in other areas, has to be said Wilder is not taking his time getting it done early doors and getting em in.

Needs a bit of power, height, athleticism, pace, ability to play a simple pass, and hard work in the midfield to look after Fleck and Coutts

totally agree, do you think Hanson or Clarke might get sold?

We have a lot of competition up front, might be wise to send him out on loan to a league one club with a recall clause and see how he does. Its always a bit of a risk throwing league two players in the deep end of the championship, can't rely too much on him IMO unless he's sort of playing an O'Shea role

Seems like a good signing to me.

Hartlepool fans seemed to really rate him and he's at the right age to develop his career here.

Will also be pleasing if he's turned down an ex prem side close to his home in boro to sign for us.

Its a calculated gamble to with the reasonable price we've paid for him also.

They seem to have a problem with his attitude. What is it with the north east and attitude problems eh? Gary Madine springs to mind :)
I'd keep him around for pre season with the mind of possibly sending him to League One for 6 months if he isn't quite up to scratch yet. See what happens.
