Wants a squad of 24.

After 2 centre halves, a midfielder and 2 wingers.

No mention of another striker or full backs... or keeper for that matter. Just cos he's not mentioned them doesn't mean he isn't looking I suppose, but still.

Fingers crossed there's no complacency. The current strikeforce won't be good enough to have us challenging anywhere above mid table at absolute best.

He has experience managing at that level :D

Theres one thing that means it might not be as bad as it could be .

Another is the fact that he has a bunch of strikers who ' could ' do a job for us there .

Maybe the Meadowhall could benefit us in the long run :)

Squad of 23-24 players CW says, with one in-one out regards the fringe players like Hussey, and chabs out on loan.

Moore, Long
(Brayford), Freeman, Lafferty, (Hussey)
(Wilson), Basham, Wright, O'Connell
Coutts, Fleck, Duffy, Carruthers, (Reed) (Whiteman)
Sharp, Clarke, Lavery, Hanson, Evans, (Done)

[Brooks (L), Scougall, McNulty - already shifted]

So, 2 or 3 short as things stand? (With plenty of movement to follow as players move out, or in anticipation of them moving out.)

Reed, Whiteman and Brooks out on loan. Wilson, Hussey and Done leave permanently. Probably Brayford too.

That leaves a squad of 16. Possibly 15 if one other left.

That means up to 9 signings, which is what I expected.

Evans, Stevens, the 5 he's mentioned and another 1 or 2.

Sounds about right.

I'm sure we'll sign another striker, and someone who plays number 10 in addition to another central midfielder. A RWB too, although maybe one of the centre halves will be able to play there.

I did think about that. We'll definitely sign another number 10, the amount we've been linked with is crazy.

I think we've seen enough of this management team to rule out complacency, don't you?

Relax, Tufty knows what he's doing. This club is going places, but not necessarily in one season or one interview.

CW built the strike force we have with the championship in mind and after his and AK's recent comments I think they think it's good enough to compete and they'll review in January.

I think I'm ok with this given we're obviously still operating on a League One budget.

You got some ITK about O'Shea not accepting that offer, then, Alf?

Can't understand why people don't have confidence in our current strikers

Sharp as 85 Championship goals and will be coming off the back of a 30 goal season

Evans well we all know what Evans is capable of

Lavery is paced and raw and showed glimpses last season that he is a very talented change of pace players

Hanson whilst limited in ability makes up for it in presence.he will play his part.

Clarke showed towards the end of the season what he is capable of and he is going to be a valuable part of the team.

From the interview I took that Evans isn't coming here to make up the numbers,Wilder will expect him to hit the ground running and I think he will do.

I am more than confident we have enough up top to score goals and many of them.

We are in a perfect situation where we don't need to worry about contracts of key players, Wilder has moved quickly on moving on the deadwood leaving a quality core of players who are very talented, very hungry for success, on good contracts and now it's about adding quality in depth to push what we already have.

Come the close of the window we will be able to field two very strong starting 11s

He is looking for competition for all positions not cover.

What a time to be alive

Can I just excuse my spelling and grammar on some of my posts, mix of Autocorrect and Dyslexia means they're riddled with nonsense. Sozzard

I think the whole squad will surprise people next season, we will be the dark horse of the division. A few additions of the hungry type players should be the making of an exciting season.

I think the aim is at absolute best mid table so whilst I wouldn't be surprised if we strengthened further up top i don't think it's his priority.

We need more firepower. Last seasons strikers didn't even muster half of what Billy did on his own between them. Thats in League 1... so if Sharp isn't as effective in this league as SOME are suspecting, we'll struggle for goals.

Lol. When he is included though, the current squad's up to about 22 strong. So you can see why CW made the throwaway/jokey point about moving players out to bring players in. Not just budgetary considerations, but avoiding Cloughesque bloatysquadness too.
