why did we win league one by such a large margin

championship quality throughout the team that are already here is why

Wilder was preparing to go up already by signing players who have competed fully in the championship

Im pretty sure theres no shortage of nous as to whats needed
some go on like weve got a squad of raw untried players

those 16 plus 8 say 5/ 6 buys and 3 loans should see us compete

Personally I don't think they're previous experience has anything to do with our success this season.

Look at previous seasons for example - Woolford, Hammond, Collins, Simonsen, Edgar, Mceveley, etc....

All with Champ or Prem experience - and achieved the square root of nothing.

The championship has changed since some of these players last had a game there. I am glad that wilder says he won't be this complacent

But the Championship is on a par with La Liga, so all the facts stated are irrelevant now.

Hammond was once Premier league class, obviously unnoticed by us mere mortals. :)

Real conundrum this for me.

Plough £10-£12m in to it to secure 5-6 good quality additions. Or half this sum for 3 or so new additions and trust the nucleus of this years squad to do it again.

It's gonna be an interesting summer !!

Maybe John Fleck is Premier League quality and will guide us there and get signed by Liverpool after a year for us in the top flight.

Stranger things have happened.

I can't see us spending £10 or £12M - not on transfer fees. That's only the tip of the iceberg if you do that. It means you are signing players on wages to match. It's not our style.

I think there are a few examples where teams with not a lot of spending have gone through the divisions - success being down to good management and highly motivated players. That's the category we are in. I'm happy with that tbh. There would be nothing finer than to beat our neighbours to promotion to the Prem with them having spent another £25 M this season and us having spent about 50 pence!

nobody had heard of more than half of Southamptons squad
why do we , well some of our fans , not give any of the team any credit at all

apparently some think none of them have any value at all to us

we are forlornly going up with a set of useless cripples destined for a rapid return
according to some

the lack of faith in our squad is unbelievable

Spent a lot of money to get in the top 6 for however shit they are. You don't have to be positive about everything for the sake of it. You can question things

not only wednesday Huddersfield
they are level with wednesday and spent ten bob on players

aston villa have shown you can spend 100 million plus and get nowhere
us spending money is no guarantee of success
we are better off using CWs guile and astuteness

The experience is there but there are reasons as to why those players didn't remain in The Championship before signing for us.

Some players are just not good enough for 2nd tier football.

Of the ones you have quoted, I would say these are definitely good enough:

These are backup/squad players at best:
  • 19Ethan Ebanks-Landell (D)
  • 20James Wilson (D) - not seen enough to judge although stepped in well at MK Dons.
  • 6Chris Basham (M) *
  • 21Mark Duffy (M) - should be good off the bench but as proved towards the back end of the season, he's no longer a 90 minute player. Think Samir maybe take his place.
  • 9Caolan Lavery (F) - Got the potential and I really like him. Can't see him being a starter.
  • 27Leon Clarke (F) - If his attitude is there and he plays like he has done these last 7 games, he's definitely a handful off the bench.
And these aren't good enough:
  • 3Chris Hussey (D) - Not seen anything defensively from the guy. He's got a cracking cross but lafferty offers more. Wish Lafferty had Hussey's cross.
  • 11Matt Done (F) - Sorry Matt.
*I think whilst Basham has been immense, he's not a first choice CB for the Championship and is definitely not good enough in CM. We need a HIGH QUALITY central leader with O'Connell to the left and I honestly think Brayford to the right.

Hanson could be our Nuhiu - the pigs hate him but everytime i've seen them on TV, he's a bloody handful.

Whilst I really hope that Tufty is given a good level of financial backing and the Board have promised as such when we get into the Championship ....... I shall ( like many others ) be watching with interest to see what that looks like.

Personally; I think there is more chance of me getting a naughty threesome with Kelly Brook and Scarlet Johannsen, than United's Board making £10m available to Tufty ........ I hope that I'm wrong !! o_O

But in case I'm correct ...... can you wear the red undies please Kelly ...... :D;)

Please don't start with the sackcloth and ashes just yet, it's only two days since the last season finished.
In wild thing we trust.

I'm afraid I'm going to upset a few people saying this. Freeman is not good enough for the Championship. His popularity arises mainly due to the number of goals he scores but his defending is piss poor. It's gone largely unnoticed this season due to the quality of the opposition but seeing as defence will be of much greater significance next season and against quality opposition then sorry mate, not good enough.

I think the consensus is that he probably wouldn't be as a right back, however it all depends on what we're going to play. Stick to our guns and play with wing backs and he is good enough.

I was toying with putting him in the 'Backup for the 1st team' category but decided against it for fear of having to wear a tin hat.. Good thing is, he's still relatively young at 25 so is at the right age to continue improving.

Hopefully yeah, but wasn't Wilder a right back? So if Freeman struggles hopefully CW can guide him and pass down his experience to him. I know right back is different to right wing back but both still have defensive responsibility.

Unfortunately I don't think you can just tell players these days to 'get f'kin stuck in'.

Different game, the defensive element has more or less been eradicated. A little shirt tug, a slight trip, a mistimed tackle and it's an instant yellow, 2 and you're off.

lets face it , several people had written off several players as not good enough for league one 12 months ago
and now after being proven totally wrong once are going for the double

CW will know who will step up , he knows the score
The main attribute of our players is their tenacity, Players like Freeman and Done impress Wilder as they are adaptable for different scenarios
Would have a little wager with anyone both will be in the opening day squad

agree with half of those
but
CW likes Done Basham and Clarke and are in his plans
Lavery is young and will learn

Dont think eel hussey or wilson will stay
Duffy , might go might stay

How do you know what Wilder's plans are? Are you Alan Knill?
