My guess is 7.

New CB

New midfield general

New LWB

New CF

Moore
JOC
Wright
Freeman
Coutts
Fleck
Sharp

All will start the first game next season.

Probably.

I don't know really.

Tough one to predict but I think Moore, JOC, Fleck, Coutts and Sharp are almost sure to start, assuming they are all still here.

Possibilities from Freeman, Lafferty, Bash, Carruthers and Clarke.

Likely to be on the bench, Wright, Duffy and Hanson.

I could of course be (and probably am) completely wrong.

Bash should 100% start

Wigan had a new goalie, new right back, two new centre-backs, and a midfielder new in for their first game of this season.

And, looking at their side in their most recent game, they just had centre-half Morgan, left-back Warnock, and midfielders Jacobs and Perkins still in their starting eleven.

Basically, they gutted their successful side from 15/16 and then failed miserably.

Would hope we'd be making as few changes as possible, certainly to start off with.

Yeah, if it was up to me he would. Absolutely immense this season and deserves his chance. I just think Wilder will fancy a new CB and if he changes formation (big if) will partner them with JOC.

Either way I think he will play a big part over the season, just maybe not as an immediate starter.

Yeah can't argue with that , I hope he keeps this formation tbf but I can see quite a few away games playing just one up top. Que Danny Ward...

The biggest mistake the club can make now is one that they make all the time trying to do cheaply and signing squad or cover players

We need better players in at least six positions and preferably all eleven positions
The team of today then become squad players in a much improved squad

Id say 85 per cent of the starting 17 sunday will be in the 25 man squad next season
and quite rightly so . theyve earned it

Interesting to see how many Bournemouth players from their Third Division campaign of 2012/13 are still integral members of their Premier League squad - Francis, Cook, Pugh, Arter, Daniels, Fraser. Four years later and two divisions higher - not bad!

If we're talking to get in the playoffs or higher we need 10 new players, only Fleck is a high end Championship player in my opinion.

We should be targeting 10th to 16th so for that I'd say we need:
  • 1 new GK - challenge Moore for No. 1 and give us a back up better than Long.
  • 2 new CBs - EEL is gone so needs replacing and I've got doubts on Basham and Wright at Champ level.
  • 1 new Mid - need competition for Coutts, I'm hoping Samir will step up and replace Duffy
  • 1 new WB - we're light in that area as back up so hopefully one as first choice with either Lafferty or Freeman dropping to the bench.
  • 2 new Strikers - Ched plus one more, we have an ageing striker force (Lavery excluded) so a young up and coming striker would be ideal.

Yes I am serious
We've just got promoted
So we need better players

It's not rocket

Do you think Barcelona are not going to be interested in signing the next superstar to emerge in South America because they already have Messi, Neymar and Suarez ?

They will because it's what successful clubs do

United have been shit for decades because as soon as a half decent team gets put together we add 20 crap, cover, squad players to it instead of three or four of higher quality

so no ones good enough
even those who have played championship football or better before

really
out of interest can you name one club in history thats rejected every single promoted player before
struggling to find one

shit for decades , so we didnt finish top 8 in the championship 6 times 2000 to 2010
4 times more than wednesday have managed since 2000

Some fans do talk a load of rot. There will be very few additions required in order to mount a serious challenge next season. Team spirit is much more important than some seem to imagine, and making wholesale changes puts that in jeopardy. Fortunately for us Chris Wilder knows that, as did Dave Bassett when he got us promoted from this division.

This is an excellent squad, the spine of the team is solid so new keeper and centre forward are key(Hanson just about good enough for div 1 so he's out).

In fairness I partly agree with JJBLADE but equally starting almost from scratch again would be suicide.

You need to strengthen but you also need to keep continuity when you've been successful. Changes ideally need to be gradual.

I don't expect big things next season but I do think we'll be OK. Time to start building towards challenging at the right end but we don't have a Brian Deane and Ian Bryson for starters so it will likely take time.

If Wilders sticking with 352 fleck and coutts aren't good enough at defending so one will have to. E dropped in my opinion

New keeper

Basham, New cb, O'Connell

Freeman lafferty

Fleck, new defensive midfielder

New attacking midfielder

Ched Billy

I honestly think we will have to get more numbers in midfield so maybe a return to 4 1 3 2?

Freeman, New cb, O'Connell, lafferty

Basham

Coutts, Fleck, new attacking mf

Ched Billy

Wigan didn't spend really when they went up. They then didn't have success with the back 3 and instantly changed it up didn't have confidence init.

I think for starters we have 6:

Moore
JoC
Basham
Coutts
fleck
Sharp

A goalkeeper to push Moore.

I think we will sign 2 Centre halves, replace EEL and get another in to bulk up numbers.

New LWB and RWB to start or compete with Freeman and Lafferty.

Sitting Midfielder

Think CW will want to be able to change it up like he has done with a 3421 formation as we saw at Northampton. So maybe wingers who can play in behind also.

2 strikers. It seems Ched is here to replace McNulty. So we need someone to replace Done.

Plus 1 or 2 squad players who are leaders such as Jake Wright who you never know may end up playing.

So think looking at 10/11 players to come in.

We won't be able to build a new first XI capable of challenging next season especially with our budget. So that's why we won't completely rip the team apart.

It'll take 2 or 3 years before we get close to challenging in my opinion.

Definitely good enough:
O'Connell
Fleck
Coutts
Sharp

Probably starters:
Moore
Basham
(if we retain a back 3, he deserves his place after his form in the last few months)
Carruthers (think he'll overtake Duffy this off-season)

Fringe of the first team:
Wright
Wilson
Freeman
(harsh, but he'll be under a lot more pressure defensively in the Championship)
Lafferty
Brayford
Whiteman
(I expect him to see some playing time)
Duffy
Clarke
Hanson
Lavery

Dev't squad or released:
Hussey
McNulty
Scoogs
Reed
Done

Ebanks-Landell, Chapman and O'Shea won't be signed permanently.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Brayford, Wilder has already shown he can turn around a player's form and I wouldn't rule out Brayford coming back in and being a factor next year.

I think areas Wilder will be looking at are Centre half, both wingback positions, another midfielder and Strikers. What we do up front will be interesting, I think we might get another striker, as well as Evans in, so we might have a lot of options.

Moore
Freeman Lafferty/New signing
New signing/Brayford New signing/Lafferty

Coutts Fleck Carruthers
Sharp New signing

WE NEED BETTER PLAYERS in every position, it's something that successful football clubs are doing 24/7

Successful clubs don't get bodies in, they don't sign cover, they don't sign squad fillers, they sign players with a view to replacing the player who currently has the shirt.

We HAVE been shit for decades when compared with similar sized clubs, no major trophy for 90 odd years, no European football ever, less time spent in the top division than all similar sized clubs, and it has been totally down to signing shyte players instead of adding quality

Real Madrid and Barcelona need better and better and better players and they never stop looking for them

So should we, most of our current squad will get their chance to move up but there's no room for sentiment

are Barcelona dumping all 11 first team players ...errr no

cant see real dumping Bale and Ronaldo unless its a 9 figure fee

why do we
southampton
dont remember them signing 24 new players on going up
and dont say they had better players, no one had heard of half of them then

ridiculous premise replacing everyone
its not logical and its not practical or viable
for any club

no club could afford it even man city never went about it that way

I didn't say we should start from scratch Davalon

I said the club should stop the policy of signing sub standard players to fill in gaps because we appear to have a half decent team

I'd rather sign players that are immediately going to put Sharp, Fleck, Coutts, Duffy and Carruthers etc under pressure than just fill in when one of them gets injured

If we do that the overall squad improves
