Don't think it's a good move by the club if it's true.

Based on this season I can't believe we'd chuck £500k at him. He seems to be injury prone and he's done nowt at Chesterfield.

Main reason though is I don't think he's the sort of personality we should be going for. We've a fantastic team spirit and we're all, boardroom, players and fans as one.

We don't need this controversial signing. He had his chance with us and blew it big style, costing this club six years of pain and damage to its reputation.

I can't believe Wilder would consider it, I hope it's all bollocks.

This thread has reached 20 pages long in just under 2 hours, I wonder if that has gotta be some kind of record on this forum?!

Anyone remember the "IS IT TODAY DAD?" on blades-mad? Only one I can think would rival it.

Nope. Though the record does belong to a thread about the same fella.

No it isn't. The point I'm making is that to say it's a purely footballing decision is ridiculous. But if that's what people think this is, you're either committed to that viewpoint regarldless of what the person has done, or you condone his actions to the extent that he can come and play for us.

I don't judge anyone for being ok with him playing for us. That's a reasonable viewpoint, albeit incorrect in my opinion. As long as you can accept that some people can and will have a problem with it.

The legal side of things is irrelevant, if he'd have been acquitted first off the fans wouldn't have wavered in support of him, the fact he was wrongly convicted means that he and us were robbed of a promotion and him of 3 years very good salary. From a PR perspective this is a poor decision if not just for the timing.

Thinking on, I'm unsure how he's likely to fit into Wilder's high tempo pressing style. He's certainly not got the fitness for it at the moment.

Not football related per se, but it saddens me deeply how many "Blades" on various social media are using this as an excuse to slag off Jess Ennis-Hill, and attack her directly, as well as peddling their tired old neanderthal line about some mythical "Gold-Digger" that set out to ruin his career.

When Jess made the comments she did, he was, in the eyes of the law, a rapist, and she was well within her right to hold the opinion she did. I may be wrong, but I don't remember her ever attacking him directly. It seems utterly moronic to me that the same fans shouting about him now being not guilty in the eyes of the law, and using that to justify their opinion, forget this so quickly :(

Why do we have to endure this shitstorm a week before the most glorious day in our recent history? :(

Ultimately, Wilder has put VERY few feet wrong this season. IF this is happening, he'll have performed all due diligence and made sure the moral of HIS group of players isn't going to be affected. 'In Wilder we trust' and he's done more to deserve the adoration than any manager since Bassett for me.

just after I'd forgiven the club for signing Marlon King. We don't even have the excuse of being desperate this time.

Glad I'm fucking off to New Zealand for a year next week. I'll be taking no interest in our season if this is true.
Hilarious

Incidentally, can anyone comment on how the Chezzie fans have been with him and whether he's had any abuse from opposition fans ?

What decision you have to make is it then ? He was cleared ,do you think no other Utd player has commited adultery ? Climb off your jelly and blancmange cloud and join the real world. If we were to sign him ,I think Chris would be signing him to play football not shag someones daughter. We know he is a very good footballer and I watch Utd to see us win by playing very good football ,shame you wont be there to enjoy it. Do we now look into the private life of every player we sign ?

Three 20+ goal strikers on the books for next season, great signing getting Ched back for peanuts, something to prove has Ched.

Why should it destabalise the team,Ched will get his head down and work Chris will make sure of that,if he does'nt then he wont pick him.

And just remember he is innocent.

Where did those five years go to.

Back to the convo, I know we're a split fanbase over Evans, but I can't help thinking this might be contractual (like Hammond) as to what has been agreed previously by KMC, there was talk of a lawsuit and us renaging on a deal to re sign him, so are we taking a cheaper option to being sued in the high court by carrying out our obligation.....

One things for sure, Chris Wilder will tell it as it is when he is asked about this, like hammond...we won't have to guess what's happening..

Just when you thought it was nice out ot the frying pan....

Evans manager said only last week that his body as yet can't cope with playing football after being out of the game for 3 years. What's going to change over the summer?

He's got a pissup in Rhyl booked with his mates for the end of May.

From what I have been told the club do carry out some 'background ' checks however I am sure the football world is very small and reputations get established very quickly.

As a football decision- the fee is too high in my opinion in view of his fitness record this season. However, a full pre-season under Wilder may sort that one

I wonder if Ched will be on the front cover of the Chesterfield programme on Sunday :p:p:p :tumbleweed:

He's played 29 games for Chesterfield.

He's not played in the last 7 weeks.

He is presently out with a non specified injury.

Players often trigger bonus / loyalty payments due from their clubs after a specified number of games played during a season. Common feature of player contracts in this day and age.

If true, I think Wilde would be best tell Ched to have his holiday now as his pre season starts next week.

Delve into the private lives of some of the guys on the S24SU wallpaper ,the most revered names in our history ,I think you might find some of them aren't exactly 'vanilla'

Great. It's one of the top stories on the BBC news app.

I can't wait for the shit storm that his association with us (and pretty much just us) brings.

I was referring to abuse from the stands more than anything else.
He's had abuse from Cardiff to Timbuk....ing..too and round again for Gawd's sake. Some would have topped themselves getting a fraction of what he's had to endure on so-called "Social" media. The English press had him hanged, drawn and quartered. The fact that he's prepared to pull on a pair of boots and subject himself to even more grief from the Knobhead Culture Club that mascarades collectively as football fans speaks volumes for the thickness of his skin and his character.

His manager said last week he had a calf injury and was struggling with the fitness needed to be a footballer after a long period out. 4 years or something
