Absolutely shocked that this has happened, terribly sad RIP and best wishes to his friends and family. Hope we can get a few chants for him tomorrow and against Chesterfield as well, least he deserves. He wasn't here for long and at the end of his career but the goodwill shown is testament to what a great character and great player he was.

Jesus this is incredibly sad news

Another in the Paul McGrath mould who didn't just come for a last payday but helped pass on there vast experience to the players around them. By all accounts a genuine lovely bloke. What a ridiculously early age to go.
RIP Ugo
:(

I think the ONLY good thing about Robson was his name helped to attract big players.

I assumed Ugo would just be turning up for a wage packet (a la Hendrie, Carney, Naysmith etc) but he really got stuck in and became a cult hero very quickly. It was all down to his 100% committed attitude and professionalism.

We have always loved a trier at the Lane but he was so much more than that.

RIP.

Well said Coco. This for me.

Truly awful news, life just isn't fair

RIP Ugo
Absolute legend

Such a sad loss at such an early age. I've listened to tributes about the big man all day and it sounds like he was a genuine big man with a big heart. Never mind football, the passing of such a man is always sad. As for football, a loss to not only those like us Blades who appreciated his skills and endeavour but also to the beautiful game. Rest easy, big man. Our heartfelt condolences go out to your family and friends.

RIP BLADE.

I'm shocked and saddened. I met him once briefly. Very nice genuine man and top defender. Would have liked to have seen more of him at the Lane.

R.I.P. Big Fella.

RIP UGO...... Once a blade always a blade. Was a privilege to attend all the 26 games he played for us!.

I can only echo what everyone else on here has said. He was a class defender for us and, by all accounts, a class bloke.

He had a really unorthodox style that made him appear clumsy but he wasn't; he was very effective.

For a seemingly physically fit man to drop dead at just 44 is shocking, scary and sad in equal measure.

RIP Ugo.

Even though I didn't know him personally I was very sad to hear the news. As well as being our former player, a great player, it sounds like he was a great guy.

Thoughts for his family.

Let's win tomorrow for him. Tribute to Ugo.

My boss at work said he once met Ehiogu on a night out and they got chatting, as they'd both recently had kids. My boss said he was a lovely bloke (doesn't everyone?) but the sad thing is I reckon that makes his lad about eight years old, poor kid.

Gutted. Thought he was superb in his time with us & always handled himself with dignity & respect.

RIP to Ugo & thoughts go out to your family & freinds.

It does make me think as well.... Im 41 next... not that far away from a pro sportsman who sadly passed away.

Very sad news and very sorry for his friends and family.

Don't remember much about him playing for us other than it was Robson who signed him and he was at the end of his career and probably on big wages. That era was the start of our decline which eventually lead to us getting relegated to L1. We had the parachute payments and the opportunity with a decent manager and sensible signings to bounce straight back to the PL and blew it big style. Robson wasted the money and was a disaster. Sadly we continued to spend large amounts on the wrong players either in transfer fees and/ or wages until good sense finally prevailed this season.

Terrible news. Hope he's ok.

Even when playing for us in the twilight of his career he was a fantastic defender. I always remember a goal saving tackle at home v QPR. Half of Bramall Lane stood and applauded it, he appeared from nowhere and hooked the ball from under the forward's shooting foot. Class.
And that , Mr Suffaux , is my abiding memory of this great defender.

Fantastic defender was Ugo. I always thought he was actually the best out of the Morgs, Killa and Ehiogu trio that would compete for the 2 starting berths

Also particularly enjoyed the 30 minute long rendition of "Ugo Ehiogu!" At one home game. Get well soon big man
Kilgallon and Morgan were second and third respectively...way behind Ehiogu.
Morgan shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Ehiogu.

RIP Ugo...

Putting life into the sharp perspective we should always look at.
None of us know what's around the next corner, let's all aim personally to live our lives to the fullest.
Fame and money mean nothing....

Thought I was on S2 for a minute. Then I realised I must have gone on fucking Facebook.

Had the fortune to live on the same road as Ugo, at the time the local residents had been campaigning for a footpath into the local park to be opened, after considerable lobbying the council finally opened the path & to celebrate we invited Ugo to "officially" open it.

The A frame was dressed in a ribbon & Ugo cut the tape & made a short speech - in all fairness he took it in the spirit it was intended, which in reality was for the neighbours to get together & have a few beers!

A top top fella, coolness personified.

RIP Ugo.
