Agreed, though he picked up a lot of yellows - maybe didn't get the votes as hadn't just bruised their egos when they couldn't take the ball off him

I'm pleased to see that Duffy's efforts have been recognised. Like Sharp, I feel he's probably tailed off towards the end of the season because of his contribution throughout the bulk of the season – Coutts has probably been more consistent over the course (and his reduced running role has meant he's tired less in games compared to Duffy) but from memory while not tallying up the assists he's generally done something fairly crucial in a lot of moves leading to goals – key example being his superb touch to Fleck that enabled him to break and set up Sharp for what was a key opening goal vs Bolton.

And more recently for 2 of the goals v Bradford. Nice touch back to O'Connell for Clarke's first, and he put Sharp in to set up Clarke's second.

I really do not think Duffy has tailed off. His running is crucial to so many moves both with and without the ball.
It is no surprise to many of us that he's in that league 1 team along with Fleck. They cover so much ground and Chris Wilder likes players to run about and work hard.
The outfield players selected do that more than any others in our team and although the team is not CWs pick it is perhaps reflective of the pressure the work rate those players have piled on the opposition.
If there was another player from the Blades to go in to that team it would be Bashambauer ahead of others for me.

Aren't these decided upon around the New Year? Would explain why players who have "faded" since January being included. I seem to remember that was behind the "Ched inclusion saga" back in 2012.

I too thought the PFA awards had an earlier voting deadline. May well have been the case in the past, very much not this year anyway.

Tony Coton of Watford, who admittedly had a great season: plus he had name recognition as he'd played a lot longer than Tracey and had been in division 1. The team that year, featuring no Blades:

That's a good bunch of players. 10 of them (all bar Bull, who never moved) were good to great Division 1 and PL players after that season.

I see an argument for Tracey and Deano (he was better than Ritchie, but of course Oldham reached the Cup SF and the League Cup final so had a lot of TV exposure).

But of course, the real story here is that Dave Bassett built a terrific team out of a group of players who may not individually have been as good as those listed above playing in their positions, but who were better as a group.
