Enjoyed seeing our promotion in 1971 watching that fabulous Blades team (greatest IMO) and the 1982 Div 4 promotion was very enjoyable at Darlington - I went as Oliver Hardy BTW

BUT best feeling of all was at the beam back at 4:50pm Saturday, all the Blades lads and lasses singing and leaping about, whilst watching the scenes form Northampton - Priceless :)

Thought that I enjoyed the day on Saturday nearly as much as I enjoyed the promotion game v Leicester back in May 90. I suppose I liked the 90 promotion more as I was there in Filbert Street (was in the back garden Saturday with the sun and ale and the young uns) and importantly, the Pigs got relegated too. You really can't better the that day back in 90.

I have tried to enjoy this season and I have in parts cos the results have been excellent and I love Wilder, but I have to say years of being kicked in the bollox by Utd meant that it was an equal measure of happyness and sheer relief when we crossed the line and got promoted.

I didn't expect owt back in 90 and it was all a fantastic bonus. With this promotion in was convinced we would somehow balls it up until probably the win away at Oxford and so I was just waiting for the kick in the bollox again. I was like a rescued dog from the RSPCA who has taken a lot of time to trust Utd this season.

Have to say though I was very very very happy on Saturday and it did have shades of 90 with the glorious sunshine and fantastic Blades day we had. Want the title now but the big one is already in the bag.

Darlington as first away match with my mates, my dad was there somewhere!! Leicester was awesome, with them lot been the icing on the cake. Beam back was next best for me as with my lad, just a shame I could not be at Northampton. Then away at Wolverhampton for Bassett 's first promotion. The two that happened when weren't playing just are not the same.

tough one......

I'm now in Dublin so the celebrations I had involved me, the missus & many confused Irishmen who didn't seem to get what a big deal it was (over here is all plastic scouse & manure fans!!!)

Whereas, I was at Filbert Street, 10 years of age with my dad & thousands of delirious Blades. Also helped that the pigs went down.

90 Shades it so far, BUT, when we get the trophy against Chesterfield & i'm there I may have a different answer!!!

'71 was agood one Sean, if I remember correctly beating Cardiff 5-1 at The Lane sealed it.

I'm over the moon with the current one...

But this one will tek some beating:

Enjoyed every promotion we have had during my time supporting the Blades, the promotion under Bassett probably stands out with a return the top division.

Absolutely right. I had the same experience all day yesterday getting sozzled, surrounded not by Irish people but by French men and women. I'd love to have been with my Blades family.

Funny, I was at Filbert Street, but doesn't initially spring to mind as my top memory, although it absolutely should. Can't believe I didn't go to the Lane to watch that team come home from that one.

Can't wait for the Bratfud and Chezzy games

Not sure. Think we had to beat Watford the following Saturday, (which we did) to confirm it. Anyone remember that silly song the club distributed on a single sheet of paper before the match, meant to have been written by John Harris ?

Remember it all too. Probably down to the fact I was only 10 & hadn't found the joys of Alcohol yet!!!

Having said that it was only a couple of years ago I found out we were actually in the "home" end.

This is only my second so I don't have a lot to compare it to. Going up to the Prem was obviously the bigger achievement but this season has been fantastic once we got going. Lift the title and this will be my best season as a Blade.

Being away this weekend it's not really sunk in emotionally, celebrated Saturday though and spared a thought Sunday morning for all those Blades no longer with us.
Good on you mate, been to many off late.:(

I was only 1 month old when we got promoted at Leicester, so can't comment there!

I'd say this season has been more enjoyable than 2006. We put in some poor performances that year - Leicester and Coventry away spring to mind, in particular. We've looked a lot more confident this time around, albeit in a lower league.

I also think that because we have been in this crap league for so long, it's also added to the jubilation of getting out at last.

This promotion has been on the cards for the last few weeks so it came as little surprise. Leicester and 1971 rate far, far higher and they were both up into the top division.

This one. The scenes of jubilation and relief at the beamback on saturday will live with me for the rest of my days. The only other one I've witnessed was in 05/06, but this tops it for me. To go from hopeless to champions elect in under a season is a marvellous achievement.

The thing about this is that there was none of this nerves or footballing gods or it's the bladesway bollocks. We just went out and fucking smashed it. 5-1 and 3-0. You'll never beat this one, sorry.

Leicester.
Can still remember every wonderful moment of that absolutely perfect day.
The perfect Sheffield double will never be eclipsed.

Every promotion is special but I particularly enjoyed Leicester in 1990. Straight back up the M1 to welcome the team bus back at BTDBL - just like Saturday.

To you young 'uns, something very special is brewing at United. Wilder is very similar to Bassett. So the fact that CW is a true Blade doesn't matter, Bassett was a Southerner who 'tapped into' the Blades spirit and support. DB took a bunch of urchins and unknowns and upset most applecarts. It's something you can't conjour up, it's the epitome of our great club, support and DNA.

McCabe and the Prince were quite right about waiting until we got back into the Championship before the 'game-changing investment kicks in - a truly good manager has reversed the slide and now just watch those Blades perform.

Best 1971
2nd 2006
3rd 2017
4th 1990
5th 1989
6th 1984
7th 1982

I only have 2006 to compare against, and would probably just about still rate that higher too. We weren't big spenders that year, there hadn't been the expectation that we'd be automatic throughout the season (particularly given we'd come off a season ending in a similar manner to how we did last season). There were some amazing moments, including another Sheffield double.

That being said, I've personally felt more involved in this season's simply on the basis of getting to more games than in 05/06.

06 was the bigger achievement and was special for me being the first time I'd seen the Blades promoted and shake off the nearly men tag. A Sheffield double thrown in was the icing on the cake.

There were also real doubts along the way that we'd do it, especially when our lead was cut to 1 point after losing 4 on the trot.

Without wanting rewrite history though the club was not as "United" as it is today. Many fans never took to Warnock and his flirtation with that crook Mandaric on the eve of the Sheffield Derby blotted his copy book. There also wasn't the moment like we had on Saturday and we had to settle for Sky sports news.

Leicester away can't be beaten for me . Darlington and Northampton were both special but Leicester tops them all .

In terms of the full season however , this one tops the lot . We've been relentless all season .
