Which player do you think we'll be clamouring for to win the Player of the Season award next May?

Do you think any players might surprise people this season?

Do you want anyone in particular to do well?

I hope Lee Hendrie starts to perform to his abilities and makes an impact this season. Throughout our Premiership season, numerous fans were calling for his signing and deriding NW for not listening to them. Then he signed, didn't perform, and suddenly, Hendrie is the devil-incarnate.

Yes he has a temper, but surely you knew that before we signed him? And for one reason or another, he didn't perform last season, but let's face it, for months on end, only Beattie was the shining beacon of light in the team.

At Stocksbridge, he looked like he wanted to play. He was getting stuck in, linking up well with Armstrong alongside him and getting forward and back. We've needed that kind of midfielder.

I hope all players do well, but I think Hendrie has been in for some stick he doesn't always deserve. He might be a petulant, mardy, dirty little sod - but he's ours and that ought to count for something! :D

Start playing like you can Hendrie and justify the calls for your signing and your wages.

I'd like Hendrie to do well too for the simple reason of shutting up these idiots who wanted to sign him and now want to burn him on a cross. But again I will re-itterate, I was never keen on signing him in the first place ;) but as said, he is here and he does have the "potential" to do well.

For me, I think if Webber is given his chance this season, he can certainly look to put himself forward to player of the year.

In the couple of pre-season games I have been to, I have been impressed with Naughton, and hope he gets a chance to shine. But on the same note I also think Halford will be a fantastic player for us.

However, I still haven't got the buzz of a new season yet, ST has so far not been purchased, away ticket for Birmingham also hasn't and hmmmm.....

Two names, one probably obvious the other a bit of a wildcard:

Killgallon - Last season looked like the player he promised to be at Dirrrty Leeds. Hopefully he'll develop and grow from that, alot depends on who plays along side him.

Spring - Obvious talent, with equally obvious flaws. Probably now the best passer of a ball in the club, who is in the last chance saloon career-wise. Hopefully older, wiser and mature enough to grab it with both hands.

Did Spring have some personal problems at Leeds or something? Sure I heard that it was something pretty tragic (wouldn't like to speculate flippantly on a forum though) but does anyone know if this is right?

Also, I'd like to agree about Squinny but I really don't think he's going to be the player we hoped. :(

I hope Naughton comes through the ranks and hopefully another of the Academy /reserves.

From what ive heard in preseason Webber is on fire. Hopefully he will bag a few goals at Brum!

Yep, his baby son died.:cry:

Hopefully Kyle Naughton, always good to see youngsters coming through, also think Henderson will turn out good.

Agree about Hendrie, but I'm not too sure whether he'll get his chance.

Cotteril for me, he will get a first team place, hes got the talent, potential and maybe the heart for it. He wants to play for us, he's happy to be here, I reckon he's gunna turn out right.

Hendrie will have to wait for Tonge to slip or Speed to get injured, so needs to show he cares even though sitting in the reserves - tough. Think Halford will turn out to be a real plus and truly hope that Webber can have an injury free season and show what he is capable of. I don't expect any of the new signings to dissappoint (Henderson, Jihai, Spring and, of course, Cotterill) and as the injuries mount during the season, as they will, we should be able to bring in players with no drop in quality - it sure gives me hope for the play-offs.

I really hope Billy Sharp recovers the goalscoring form that he had at Scunthorpe.

If he is able to get 15 goals, and BT has another seson like last we could be in for a very succesful season.

Hendrie has really got to shine this year! I hope he does and i think he will grab us a few goals from midfield

I want monty to get a run in the team and show, what i think has been missing in the middle of the park and but abit of desire into the team

Between Cotterill and Hendrie both at different ends of the scal

Cotterill - New and upcoming, has to show what he is capable of, i have no shadow of doubt he can be the best right winger in the league this season, IF he puts in the work

Hendrie - He has proved what he can do in his career, but he has to revive that, i think if he knuckles down, he can be a real asset along with chipping in a few goals, but he has to settle down

Cotterill without a doubt he showed his class whilst on loan and im sure he will show his class in abundance over the coming season:D

I think/hope Killa will be a consistent player this season.

Cotts will provide the crosses.....hopefully a bit of defending too!!!

I also think Naughton will push on and become a regular sub.

Sneaking feeling Henderson will be more important than some realise.

Tongue, Sharp???

Having said all that let's hope they all have a great season!!

:)

Montgomery.

Im going to be on the look out for his one completed pass of the season.

I think the one to watch could be Webber- if he stays completely fit. I also think if hendrie knuckles down he could have a good season

Crystal ball time,

Player of the Season 08/09:-

Matthew Kilgallon.

Fully agree with Morgan the other day when he said Killa could go the same way as Jagielka. It will come with experience after a good run in the side.
