One tiny bit of praise for Millwall..

Yes a worldy.

I was right behind it and up celebrating a goal. Fantastic save.

The only praise I'll give Millwall tonight is seeing a group of their own fans having a right spat with each other in the top right corner of BL upper, was really quite funny!

The boys in blue and stewards didn't do anything though they just stood there and watched it unfold, I would've thought SYP wouldn't have just ignored it with their reputation and it being Millwall of all fans.

Would've been a superb goal. Proper footballer Couttsy can really strike the ball properly - with either foot. He should shoot more often. It's not like he doesn't have the ability to make a yard for himself either.

Thought he was excellent tonight, one of those immaculate performances. You could also tell he was fresh after not playing on Saturday. He ran a lot.

..that save from Coutts' pile driver was possibly one of best saves I've ever seen by opposition keeper at the Lane, and I think a few others thought so to, that's why he was applauded when he went off injured some minutes later

It was a great save, but apart from that, he looked a liability. We'd put two or three crosses into the six yard box which he didn't come for or get anywhere near and it looked to be only a matter of time before we'd score, which we did. When he went off I was disappointed because I think he'd have carried on flapping or doing nothing.

His eventual replacement (why did it take several minutes for him to appear) arrived very slowly and before he took the goal kick, had a drink from his water bottle (he'd walked all of fifty yards) and wiped his brow. He'd got the art of time wasting down to a fine art from the minute he arrived and they were 1-0 down at the time :-)

didn't really understand the applause, good save or not.

are we going to be gracious with every opposition player who goes off injured from now on

I thought Millwall looked a decent outfit...a couple of players short maybe from a side that can push hard next year...cam also see why Wilder was in for Webster, for an absolute beast of a bloke he's not bad with his feet too...wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't look at him again in the summer....they can keep Gregory though.

Also impressed when their player got straight up after a scything tackle in the first half. I feared a straight red and it could have been if he had made more of it.

To be fair, that could be Millwall commenting on Moore. Often the cross is only 3 yards out but Moore won't come and claim it. I like the guy, but he has to work on gathering crosses.

The fouled player did get straight up, but 3 or 4 of their team immediately surrounded the ref.

It must be hard for the Millwall fans coming all that way on a Tuesday night. The players are willing, but their skill levels aren't there. Depending on summer transfer activity. I think they could struggle next season. United? I know it will annoy the 'We won, didn't we?' brigade but I thought that - especially in the second half, we were too casual/sloppy. Around their area we lacked speed of thought, were indecisive and often tried to over-elaborate. Having got an early goal, that should have been a platform for a big win and improve our goal difference. Near the end, we could easily have conceded (how the fuck we blocked their late effort, I'll never know) and it would have been game on and a nervy finish. With the usual crap ref., he would have delighted in giving them a dodgy penalty.

This is the opportunity to learn how to 'put games to bed' and close out the opposition. We won't get away with this casualness in the Championship.

Really? I thought they looked as poor as anybody I have seen this season, they also looked as if they didnt care until the final 15 minutes when we looked a bit lost, kept giving the ball away, I wondered at the the time if the match at Oldham was catching up with us a bit, if I was a wall fan I would be worried about next season unless changessare made, bit like us this time last year.

The lad up front for them who was substituted was awful. As was their right-back / wing-back. Both quick but woeful on the ball.

Just shows we all see things differently, I think there have been far poorer teams at BDTBL this year...I thought at times they moved the ball well going forward, admittedly this was more evident in the last 15 minutes when Morrison and the other big lad came on. A very physically big side, typical Millwall outfit i suppose!

Morison is such an awkward bugger. Given a lenient ref, he can cause chaos as he always gets his nudges and shoves in first.

True, he didn't lose much in the air and his team mates knew exactly where the flick-ons were going, unlike Hanson's who can have a bit of a 50p head at times................................and the Ref last night was garbage

I think they're knackered. They've had a long cup run and are facing a bit of fixture congestion at the moment. I don't think they've got the depth of squad we have. Their form has been very good until the last two games. Harris is their version of Wilder (although I suppose his performance is more like Clough's at the moment) and they're not really big enough to expect to be a permanent fixture in the championship.
I was a little concerned about a backlash after their loss to Swindon but I'm starting to wonder if we've got that 'Man U' thing going where teams are starting to expect to get beaten by us.

Yes sometimes.

Why wouldn't we?
"Yes sometimes" isn't really an answer to the question I asked is it?

I asked are we going to do it "EVERY" time. No idea why we clapped this lad, when mostly we boo them like demons for wasting our time

I'd forgotten about that. Soon as he made the 'tackle' I thought he was going to be red-carded.

Full marks to the Millwall fans not making a big fuss over it on Roy's View From.. and on those Lion TV interviews.

We've played many clubs whose supporters would have made a big deal of it. There was a club in the Championship, name escapes me who were denied a penalty at Derby sometime this season. Their manager spent about three days talking of nothing else.

He didn't waste our time though, did he? Shortly after a great save he sat down and shortly after was substituted. The replacement keeper, now he was wasting time.

Sad day when we can't applaud an opposition player.

you can applaud all you want, at no point have I said applauding opposition players is a bad thing or that I want it stopped. What I am stating, is that I didn't understand why this player. was applauded off given that around 75 opposition players will have trudged off at some point this season with as far as I'm aware no applause offered at all.

For example, was Carruthers applauded off when he went off injured in the game versus MK Dons - I don't think so.

I've seen it done when some poor lad has had his leg broken but this all just routine opposition player needs subbing.

I apologise to all those I've offended by these comments on my bemusement, in future I'll stick to calling other posters c*nts and idiots to ensure that I don't drop the high standards set on this forum

I'm not having a go blade67 just observing that I and those sat beside me were commenting on how good the save was, so it seemed alright to show some appreciation. I understand what you mean, but just once in a while appreciation isn't a bad thing. Can be reassured that if he had been messing about like his replacement clapping would not have been the response.

Anyway, I have a soft spot for keepers. They mostly mad and removed from the other tarts on the pitch.
