I always assumed that Strachan would turn to refereeing rather than management after he retired, given all the practice he got when he was playing for Leeds.

They can pick all our players next season ! Not this though when we clash with International games.

Is Coutts worthy of a call up too? What about Freeman at Wales?

None of our players will be considered by Scotland until they are at least in the championship.

Murphy is an example.....I would say he's no better as a player now than he was under a Clough. Fleck wont be a different player next season and drastically improve, nor Coutts.
All that will be seen is what is plain as day to everyone, that both of them will be good enough and still do a job in that division. And in Flecks case he could do his job in the premier league, and certainly in the Scottish premiership with either Celtic or Rangers. Scott Brown is no better from what I have seen.

I agree 'Grizzly' players outside the Championship will not be looked at until they reach that level.

This is the case with all levels of Scottish football. Young Callum Semple has been touted for the Scotland U17, U18 and U19 caps but has always been overlooked for Champoinship club players or players at Scottish clubs. Even though he has out performed said Championship players for two years.
The same can be said for Regan Slater. Although this is with England. He should be in England U17s set up but due to being with a L1 club he will be consistently over looked.

This is why for so many reasons getting out of this league will propel so many of our current playing staff at all ages on to a bigger stage.

Next season if Fleck is still on top form he will get his chance. As will Coutts.
