I still miss Mike Dicken.

I think there's not a fan in the world, even Wendy, that wouldn't want a manager like Chris Wilder. So refreshing to hear someone be honest instead all the media trained bollocks you can get with other managers.

TOP TOP MAN.

How DARE you even ENTERTAIN the possibility of Tufty going to manage the pigs

Michael Gray pretty complimentary, Bob Mills dick!
In what way? I think Mills has a better understanding of lower league football than many pundits. His main point seemed to be it's not as easy to get out of the third division as it used to be, which I think is true.

Well what did he say? What did he say?
First thing was if anyone can fuck it up, we can, so one game at a time.

Not the right time to be talking about the championship. Obviously we're doing long term planning but don't want to talk about it. Huddersfield and Preston have shown you can do well without spending a fortune.

Didn't realise until he became manager just how big we are.

Which is true, but doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy it or look forward to what's coming, we just have to keep winning.

I think it's right not to talk about the Championship though as we really should be enjoying the rebirth of our club first.

Absolutely agree. I'm simply still in Division 3 and will remain there till the maths say different.

Which is exactly what many on here have been saying (for ages)

Hope BTL was listening :D :p

Some main points spoken by Wilder.

TS said Sheff Utd were now dead certs for auto promotion now.
CW laughed and said that if any team can mess it up right at the end then it's Sheff Utd.

TS mentioned that reaching the play-off final would normally be seen as success but Bob Mills said if we reached the playoffs then we may as well give up due to our terrible record. CW laughed and said he'd been to most of the playoffs and promised never to go again but when we get there he always thinks there's a chance we might win. He agreed that we don't want to playoffs and laughed again.

TS asked if he set the players a points target for promotion. CW said he's never done that and just asks the players to try and win every match. He mentioned that we have some talented individuals but the thing that impresses him the most is work ethic and desire and said the players have been fantastic. CW also mentioned that Billy has told him many times that he's not bothered how many he scores as long as SU gain promotion but Wilder admitted that he doesn't believe Billy and thinks he really wants to hit 30 goals this season.

TS asked if he had plans for next season in the Championship as surely we'd need to strengthen.
CW commented that he hasn't planned specifically for the Championship yet because we haven't reached it yet. However he's ALWAYS planning ahead thinking about all possibilities. He said that Huddersfield have proven that you don't have to spend millions to be successful.

TS said when a big club goes down then people automatically think they'll quickly bounce back but Bob Mills said it can be difficult to bounce back. CW agreed and admitted he'd been backed by the board and had a fantastic budget but said there are additional pressures on big clubs with expectation. Mentioned it's taken Portsmouth a while to get out of div 2 and league clubs going down to the non league have often struggled to bounce back because every wants to beat them.

TS mentioned our big gates currently averaging 21K, said it's similar to Burnley, Swansea, Hull etc all PL clubs.
CW said he never realised how big SU were and said we are a MASSIVE club with fantastic fans, told them we'd had 25K over Xmas, 26K and 28K against Bolton and Scunny. Also said we're taking 4.5K to both Oldham and Port Vale and if tickets were available we'd take over 10K to MK Dons.

Oh no I think we went on our little shit run last time Jim White had him on a few weeks ago! Think it was after the Southend match...and before Walsall....
