is he good enough, and should he be dropped?

No and yes for me, no better than clarke. Would rather clarke (if fit) but lavery for me should be starting ahead of him. For me he has no place here next season if we go up.

1 in 7 is poor for the amount we create. Missed a sitter yesterday as well.

I like my strikers to score goals, call me old fashioned cant argue that we havent lost but i would lime another striker to partner billy to get equivillwnt of 15 over the season.

Anyone know how many assists he has?

As Bergen Blade pointed out on another thread he took both the centre half and full back away from Lafferty for the second goal.

He does plenty of work both in defence and attack, and I think the choice between him and Lavery largely depends on the type of opposition we're playing against and how much height we need to combat them. Without him yesterday I feel both their CB's would have been largely untested by the high ball, and consequently would have had more energy to try and deal with Billy running the line so well.

For games still to come such as Millwall who have big centre halves and forwards like Gregory and Morison I feel he'll be an absolute necessity.

Think he's got three assists, got them all in his first three games

It's a complex question for me .

He needs to start against the likes of Bolton as without him they'd bully us into submission . But against a more ' refined ' opposition he should be our plan B option .

I like him though and think he was an astute purchase . He offers us something upfront that Clarke was meant to add but for whatever reason hasn't .

Why the hell would you come on here when we are clear at the top ,virtually promoted ,and slag our centre forward off who hasn't played in a losing side.
Go and study football a bit and have a word with yourself.

I suspect he's carrying an injury, so should he be dropped?

He's the only player who gives us the option Wilder wants at the moment, even if not 100%

I will 'go study football' immediately

Pretty sure we were winning games before he arrived tbf. Winning headers isnt enough for me. Thats the basics everyone should be doing. So as a striker are you content that his offering is basically winning headers?

He was poor yesterday, Lavery should have replaced him sooner, but he does a job.

He offers a lot more than that .

The mud pit at Oldham next week may well be right up Hanson's street, it won't be pretty, that's for sure.

But for Lavery having the muscle issue at Swindon, Hanson would have been on the bench yesterday. He's a good option to have, whether on this evidence he is a longer term option is debatable.

How can people even slag him off ?! Yeah he should have scored yesterday but his game is about a lot more than scoring. He works so hard gives it his all every game. Draws defenders away from our other attackers. Pretty steady on his feet and brings others in to play well. Made some good clearances yesterday in our box. He gives us that option most teams don't have. Should he be dropped ? no. Should he play EVERY game? No. But he's an asset to this team . End of story

It doesn't matter who plays as long as no one is nervous or quiet
That would render promotion pointless

I think i would be more content with him if had notched a few more in. His return has been bad and he has missed a few sitters. I dont think he has the goals in him.

Twenty goals scored in the 8 games he's been on the pitch.

Not lost, 3 assists, 1 goal. Extremely helpful defensively and works very hard.

For me, it doesn't matter who scores as long as the side overall does.

Probably not a starting solution if we go up but he does a good job.

Probably not a 90 minute man for most games but at last we have strong options on the bench and a manager who knows when to make changes.

An example of a good January window signing that has boosted the overall squad.

It all depends on what sort of opposition we are playing. Sometimes CW will go for Lavery's speed and touch, on other occasions he'll opt for Hanson's height and strength. If it's not going to plan, one is replaced by the other. No problem.

In the long run, I believe Lavery is going to become a star man for the Blades. He is a really talented lad and the fact that we got him cheap from The Sty is something that we'll be crowing about for years to come. For now, Hanson has a job to do and he's doing his honest best.

Deliberately concentrated on him yesterday, missed one header/tackle, won everything thrown at him.

Had a good game.

I'll be betting on him to score at Oldham...

Part of me hopes we lose one soon, just to give people something valid to pick at..

Reminder, our team is top of the league and flying, enjoy the ride..

Seems a lot more has been said, so I will add something else.

Against Fleetwood we needed another option, had we had Hanson, that result would have been different.
Look how Fleetwood coped with Bolton when faced with balls into their box and a big side to deal with.

Hanson allows us to mix it up against those sides that will sit deep and try and frustrate us.

Sharp won player of the month for the first time the month he was playing with Hanson, Hanson often requires more than one player to mark him giving Billy space

Look at the game against Bolton, Wheater was almost man marking Hanson, and as Hanson moved out wide for goal kicks Wheater often followed making space for Billy.

There are definitely games that suit Hanson but Lavery should generally be first choice.

I slated his performance yesterday and stand by it, even though he wasn't completely hopeless I would have liked to see more of a goal threat from him and his link up play was very poor.

That being said yesterday was not the norm and I still think he has made a positive impact since he arrived and is a good type of player to have around. If he helps us get over the line, whether with goals, assists or just hard graft then he will have earned his keep and more.
