Best team we've faced at the Lane this season so they should be in top 6 as Wilder said on Radio Sheff. Holmes looked in charge of things first 30 minutes but then one or two tussles with the Bash seemed to unsettle him. Like us though they need to get some medium range shooting practice under their belts.
have to disagree, the best teams I have seen at the Lane this season are Fleetwood & Walsall ????

Charlton very good reading of the game. I put on match thread like they mention. They are the toughest opponent we've all season. We could easily have been 2 down in 1st 10 mins & they put us under pressure in 1st 35 mins like i have rarely seen this season

Could be good bet for title next season at the vallies 2 can play at that game, bramble lane what are they like ;)

Chuffing hell. Blaming Declan Rudd for the second goal is a bit harsh, isn't it? He made a great save and was then helpless as Lafferty hammered in the rebound.

Charlton have a lot of good players but if they don't combine as a functioning team then that's not much cop, is it? Tony Watt, Forster-Caskey and Ricky Holmes are all much better than the average for this division, but they are nowhere in the table so something is going very wrong somewhere. Being brilliant for 10 or 15 minutes isn't enough.

Swindon were shite on Tuesday night but in the second half they tried and tried, and looked like getting a point or, for a while, even three. They beat Charlton 3-0 at the County Ground this season, which, for a team with the amount of talent that Charlton have, is a disgrace. It simply illustrates that no matter how skilful your individuals are, creating a winning side is about instilling character as much as anything else.

We have it; Charlton, at the moment, don't.

Robinson's programme notes suggest he is at odds with a number of the current squad, who probably know they will be looking for new clubs come May. Possibly no coincidence that a number of them impressed today and were capable of winning at Bolton, yet weren't up for it at home to Bury and Oxford.

Or Peterborough in their next game.

I like Charlton to be honest, apart from their manager.
Just been having a look at one of their boards. Not about today, but calling your own manager "Nobinson" is not big and it's not clever. And as for referring to post match interviews as "some weird ramblings"....
What an odd bunch and how bizarre that that we seem to get on :rolleyes:

Seriously, the resemblance is uncanny, I feel their pain:
"After a Robinson interview, you just stop taking in what he's saying and it all becomes meaningless. He talks round and round in circles."
"I avoid listening to Nobinson, but when I do....it's usually arse covering nonsense"
"F knows what Robinson is on about"
"Good grief. He actually said that, out loud, in front of people?!"
And one from today:
"What's the point of being 'proud of the display' if we get relegated. Karl tries to put on a positive spin on his shite reign"

Wish them well, but of course, first and foremost...UTB :)

Plenty on here have fancied Robinson as our manager over the years, not me mind you.

Is it because all who come to play the mighty Blades, there, turn to jelly?

Bonky madness.

Proper club, proper fans

Agree. It's obvious that it's the management team that are holding them back - they have a few quality players and Charlton should be much higher in the table. The club usually reflects the fans. Charlton, a bit like us, don't have airs and graces. Millwall? Thugs. West Ham? Utter cunts.

Sounds familiar like Madkins last season !

I think Robinson is a decent enough manager and will have them challenging next season.

He's stuck with a pissed off fan base and other managers players.

He needs the kind of clear out Wilder has benefited from.

I know there's no real point raking up the past, but I find myself looking at how Wilder operates. And shaking my head even more about how Adkins had every single one of us fooled :(... And then I find myself just looking at how Wilder operates....and life is good again :):):)

"That’s it really. All very depressing. However, Depeche Mode’s new album will cheer you up.”

Love Depeche Mode. Bloody good weekend on the whole.

Quick story: Back around 1999 or 2000, I was staying in a hotel in West Hollywood, and was up at the roof top pool with some lads from work. All of a sudden we could hear Depeche Mode, really loud. I said something like "Bloody hell, someones got the car radio on a bit loud?", my mate said "er...I think you should come and look at this...", so I walked over to the edge of the roof and there, over the road in the car park of Tower Records, were Depeche Mode, playing live. So we ordered a few more drinks, pulled up a chair and enjoyed the show.

Hopefully not needed as the Blades will Never Let Me Down again. Wilder realises that Everything Counts in large amounts, especially points and goals.

I agree pal, I just cant get enough

When the story started off with depeche mode and a Hollywood hotel I thought you were going another route with this one!

I'm just pleased he has adopted a policy of truth, realising people are people. Right now I just can't get enough.

I believe I said in the past that we wouldn't believe how bad Adkins, Clough etc were until we had a scout and a manager ( and importantly an asst mgr, which I never mentioned!) who knew a player and how to blend and motivate a squad. Good new signings set the scene and then it's all easier, though still very hard over a full season, week in week out.

Did I say that Bladesway?
