A piece on Kazim Richards on racism and football injustices etc. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...m-richards-corinthians-brazil-racism-football

What was the general feel for him amongst our fans when he was at the Lane?

You could tell he was a bit of a boy by the way he walked and talked and I've read various things on him (mainly negative) from the likes of Gillespie etc. and I'd imagine he was a challenge to work alongside daily for the more 'old school' players that go by the book etc.

I always thought the quality was always there (his goal vs Bolton and good performances here and there) but it was squeezing it out of him. Warnock always did well with the rogues

I liked C K-R. I think that's the test for a manager, handling and bringing out the best in 'unorthodox' players. (I'm not talking the likes of Nile Ranger, Joey Barton, Madine etc. There's nothing you can do with cunts like that). When players like Baxter go off the rails, I feel that the manager/club have played their part.

I liked him as a player when he was at the Lane.

Remember him rattling the crossbar at Stamford Bridge with a long range effort... The same day Hulse got injured.

Warnock said on the season review video that CKR had something about him and was worth the gamble as the fee was only around £150,000. He had the raw talent for sure but I don't think he has ever really shown it fully. I imagine he was a bit of a Billy Big Bollocks when with us, which you can understand a bit as he was so young and playing in the Prem.

Regardless, I will never forget his goal v Bolton!

Read this earlier in the week, pretty good article

When we bought him (think it was for £50K) Warnock spoke how CKR was always blessed with talent but always seem to fall out with managers and never settle into a club. Warnock said he needs to knuckle down as this could be his last chance to becone a pro footballer.

At United he was a success but only because the transfer fee we paid was so small.
He seemed very confident (almost arrogant), a self confessed Arsenal fan and he played really well away at Arsenal. Playing away at PL grounds didn't seem to phase him and he would even try little flicks and tricks against some of best defenders in the PL.

He reminded me a little of Che Adams.
Look at CKR YouTube highlights whilst playing for us he looked a world beater. His stock/ reputation was high.
However he would generally do very little during a game but then pop up with the odd moments of magic.
We knew he was very talented but no one was that disappointed when we got such good money for him. I liked him though because he was unpredictable, talented and was capable of scoring goals from nothing.

Yes to me the Bolton goal lives long in the memory as I was sat just behind him in SS. In many ways just as good as the Dean Saunders (off the keeper) goal.

The thing is even if he gave it the big un in the dressing, surely you could just take the piss out of him for being called Colin!

"Pipe down Colin"

Wouldn't want to be saying that if Warnock was in earshot.

Yes, I thought of Adams too, talented but you suspect he'll never quite be as good as he could have been.

Didn't Coca Cola buy him for us?

I thought he was decent enough and very similar to Che Adams in some ways. I think CKR has career has gone OK but I think he had the potential to be a top Premier League player on his day.

Was part of the team that ripped West Ham apart 3-0.

Bizarrely we never started a game with that line up again through the final games of the season. An inexplicable move by Warnock.

He along with Jags were the two players from our prem season that had the best careers

Liked him a lot because after a home game i called him over, asked for his shirt and after my friend tried to wrestle it out of his hand, he gave it to me :D. Still got the shirt now. It's absolutley massive, lads built like a tank.

He also threw a shirt to my brother and accidently whacked Warnock in the face!

Skilfull bit-part player, inconsistent, lacked concentration, didn't play for 90 minutes.

Inconsistent maybe but you have too hand it too the lad he has had a very interesting career.....From Bury to the Blades too Brazil with playing at some of the biggest teams in Turkey in between.

Not sure I ever liked him as an individual, always seemed a bad egg, you could kind of tell he had come from a genuinely rough, urban upbringing. Some of his interviews in Tukey (they're on YouTube) reaffirmed my thoughts that he had a bad attitude. As a player I am impressed by his career, the comparison to Che Adams is a good one. A lot of natural talent and athleticism, just not much of a brain.

In the run-in to avoid relegation , he was under-used by the other Colin. I remember him tearing West Ham to shreds and in other games being our only serious threat with pace to unlock defences. But then I love a player who will carry the ball and create unpredictability / goal chances. Many times I would be screamng at Warnock to bring him on when we were failing to penetrate because he struck fear into defences. I didn't agree with selling him but there was a lot i didn't agree with in 2007 - what a shit time to be a Blade.

The Coca Cola kid appeared from nowhere onto the bench for Derby County last night!

Blast from the past!

Still got his shirt! Came over and gave it to me after one the home games.

Brother's got his other shirt n'all....via a back hand into the face of Warnock as he cobbed it over the tunnel thing that pulls out 😂 The line on Motd was something like "here's something I think a lot of referees will have liked to have done over the years"
