Blackburn away 85/86. We lost 6-1 but Edwards got his 200th league goal (Billy - Come on down!). We were shit and they scored in the first minute, a portent of the doom to befall us.....Fantastic support and when Edwards got his goal we went mental. The Blackburn fans, always crap at the best of times, had being tried to goad us. We were doing congas and going barmy and no-one gave a shit we'd lost. Absolute top memorable afternoon.

Was there too on that day. Played awful and I think it was Simon Garner or Scott Sellars who tore us a new one. We all went mad though when Edwards got a very late consolation and I still recall the incredulous looks of disbelief that we got from the home fans who were completely bemused that we were all clearly enjoying ourselves despite the hammering we were getting. I dont think they realised the significance of the goal for United/Edwards and they couldn't get their heads around the sheer exuberance of our celebrations at our late goal. They must have thought we were off our trollies.

Watford away in The Fa cup one freezing afternoon in the early eighties. Lost 5-0 but the fans sang loud and proud all game. I can remember a Watford player coming to retrieve the ball to take a throw in and he shook his head and clapped as if to say "barmy but class at the same time".

Not sure if this defeat inspired John Burridges famous comment???

I think all the singing and dancing was down to us all trying to keep warm digger. Bloody freezing it was!

Was that the semi final in 1983 when the pork brigade lost 2-1 to Brighton at Highbury? Remember a Jimmy Case thunderbolt that day that won it Brighton. Really enjoyed myself watching Match of the Day that night as some of the pigs cried on television. If ever I see Jimmy Case in a boozer his first ale is on me. I owe him that.

Over the years, Birmingham, Cambridge, Walsall, Palace, wolves, arsenal, pigs, Wigan, etc....
I was at them all, games were we lost and went down or out, (6:1 at Forest) but I picked myself up and moved on. However, when the few occasions came along which counted.........Peterbourgh, Darlington, (Arsenal), Wolves, Leeds, it was awesome.

It is not a glory hunt being a Blade, but a commitment of love.

Swansea away, last game of the season we got relegated into this godforsaken league. We didn't shut up for 90 minutes despite getting hammered 0-4, and I will always respect the swans fans for how they treated us that day. During the game they chanted "you'll be back, you'll be back, you'll be back," and after the match the coaches full of blades were applauded out of their car/coach park by their fans. I was so, SO proud to be a Blade that day.

Agree. And as easy as it was for the Swansea fans given the circumstances, they took "Oh I'd rather go down, than be Welsh" in the right spirit. Bit weird to be honest when you would normally expect ridicule from the oppo fans. But there did seem to be some sort of mutual respect that day...Either that or they already knew what the next 6 years had in store

Anfield in 1990, our 16th game without a win after promotion. Lost 2 nil and about 6000 Blades singing "we're gonna win the league" at the end. Even the Scousers respected us for that. Plenty of others too.

Remember being locked in with 5000 other Blades for a good three quarters of an hour at Newton Heaths ground back in late 1990.

We had just completed our customary defeat at Old Trafford and we all had a bloody good sing song belting out blades song after blades song to an empty stadium. Even newton heath club officials who poked their heads out of the stands and the local constabulary kept looking bewildered at our passionate backing for the Blades when there was no one about and the 'Mancs' were all on their way back home to Sussex or similar. I'd wager that famous old stadium hasn't heard backing like that for a 'Utd' team since, the plastic glory hunting twats.
