Nick Goff, " the betting industry insider ", as described in the Racing Post, has an interesting view on the Blades in today`s edition.
. He says - " It is little short of a crime that a club the size of Sheffield United have been languishing in Sky Bet League One since 2011. In many of those seasons they have spent chunks of the year looking like one of the best three teams, only to find a way to miss out on promotion.
This year though, there will be no such slip-up; this is a case in which the league table definitely isn`t lying. The Blades are the best team in the division by a distance, and if anything are worthy of an even bigger lead than the eight-point advantage they have. Not only will they go up - if they continue playing at the level they have since around November they are more likely to be troubling the top six in the Championship next year than the relegation places. " He also reckons Fleetwood won`t last the distance, and that Bradford City or Millwall will get the other automatic place.

I think Fleetwood may have peaked a little too soon. If they keep this unbeaten run up until the end of the season, say, then that's 26 games unbeaten. That's ridiculous. I think they'll lose a game and fall of a little from the top 2, and agree that Bradford and Millwall look better poised to take advantage as it stands.

just had a message from my cousin trawlerman too long , and he reckons this blokes mad ,
Fleetwood are playing with belief , bradford are not, millwall too far back for him

scunny have lost the plot, and Bolton have too much internal dog fighting going on

Fleetwood have the momentum at the moment and are well placed to nick an auto place especially as Bolton and Scunthorpe are consistently dropping points. However, with a relatively small squad a couple of injuries or suspensions could change all that.

Millwall are also bang in form and catching teams above them quickly, based on a v strong defence and Gregory scoring plenty. If Fleetwood do indeed slip-up, I agree they're best placed to finish in the autos and I would think they will be Utd's toughest game left.

If Utd make it, I'd personally much prefer for Fleetwood to get the other auto spot. Partly due to them being more likely to struggle next season and partly due to it being easier to prise two of CW's targets (Webster and Gregory) away.

Would this be a 'real' cousin? You know, one with arms and legs and stuff.

I have the sneakiest of sneaking suspicions that you may have made it up to strengthen your argument.

Sad isn't it, that I'm such a cynic.

Their game against Bolton tomorrow is quite a good test to see if they will last. Win and it further cements their case; lose and it knocks them back, and gives hope to Bolton and the rest of the chasing pack. It's as important to them as the Bolton and Scunny games were to us in that respect.

But Wednesday fans say we have no idea how amazing the Championship is now and will be relegated. I just don't know what to believe anymore

You can believe that they're bricking it about not going up and having to play a "team" who are on fire, silly pigs have talked themselves into a corner again and have no other option but to obsess about money and big players.... sound a bit familiar doesn't it... remember the last time the superstars had to play a newly promoted blades team..?

I know you do Roy... think we all remember...

I don't. I remember a PL team playing a newly promoted pig team and hammering them in their own backyard.

Best team to come to the Lane this year so I'd agree with you.
I thought they were more functional than good and we lost due to defensive errors. For me ,the best team to come to the Lane was Bristol Rovers. Strong, quick, skilful, and if that idiot for them hadn't been sent off just after Chapman scored they might have got something from us.

Most entertaining home game of the season in my opinion

The piggies insecurities know no bounds. They are desperate to go up as they know the tuna man will eventually lose patience and withdraw the well of money and then they will have to pay their way. As it stands they would be up a creek without a paddle as fresh from losing circa £9m plus last financial year, they will report a further loss of £15m for this season if they don't go up. To put it bluntly, without their benefactor they are fucked. So they are desperate and trying to hide their desperation.

If and when Utd land in the championship we are only going to make it more difficult for them. Burton showed how to play the superstars from S6 the other night. They really aren't all that and neither is the championship. They are just frightened nervous little beasts who are running scared of a resurgent Utd.

Any one who says the championship is fantastic is talking out their arse. It's simply not. I don't have to have a season ticket at a championship club to watch championship football and I've seen enough of it to form my own opinion. The money is high...the quality....certainly less so. Utd have nothing to fear there.

Rosler came up with a game plan to stifle us and expose our weakness and it was executed to perfection.

Didn't help that Wilder had a brainfart at halftime, but I'm amazed that no one else has followed that blueprint (thank god!)

I was quite impressed with Peterborough as well.

I think Bolton will win at Fleetwood 2-1; they will bully them. Then I think Fleetwood will hit a sticky patch. Millwall have just a little bit too much to do. Bradford are my bet. Although, I have a sneaky feeling Scunny might not be finished yet.

larkin style would work :

They fuck you up , your forum cousins ,
they may not mean to , but they do ,
they fill you with the thoughts they had ,
and add some extra just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn,
By posters in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Blade hands on misery(*) to Blade ,
It deepens like a coastal shelf,
Get offline as early as you can,
And don’t have any thoughts yourself.

* but not this season

Yep, that's my thinking although my judgment is clouded somewhat.

9/4 is a cracking bet for Bolton tomorrow (feel free to reply in about 25 hours !)

Bolton haven't won away since November at Northampton.
They've only scored 16 goals away from home all season and 8 out of their last 12 are away.
They now have 8 games in 4 weeks, 6 of which are away! That is a tough tough ask.
The injuries and suspensions are catching up with them.
Even the free school has closed!

Scunny haven't won in 8 could easily have lost them all. The 3 draws against us,Bristol.and Walsall were all very fortuitous .They are playing really poorly, their confidence is rock bottom. They've Bradford A, Millwall H and Bolton H

Millwall have only 4 left at home with 7 away, including us, Fleetwood, Rochdale, BristolR .
6 games in 3 weeks 5 of which are away!

I told my mate to lump on Fleetwood Champions a couple games back at 40/1 .
That was a crazy bargain, even now they are 14/1.
Cracking prices in a two horse race!

Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers are the best two teams to visit the Lane this season.

Also went to Fleetwood away and we snatched a late draw. They seem to line up like a Clough cup team. Soak up pressure then counter attack with pace.

Nil nil tommoza between those two will be fine.
Millwall have one eye on the cup.
Can't see them keeping up the momentum after a cup hammering(think they'll get tonked).
Fleetwood are the team that I think will sneak in autos.
I'm glad we've played them twice.
Nobody to fear in the run in.
Dodgy away games all played.
Enjoy the ride.

Nah, Blades will be Champs but from that analysis you can certainly see that Uwe has a chance to secure the second promo slot for the Fishermen's Friends
