Derby County are close to signing strikers Marlon King and Rob Hulse, BBC Radio Derby understands.

The Rams are also chasing an unnamed midfielder to replace Stephen Pearson, who is finalising a move to Birmingham.

Boss Paul Jewell has said he is eager to bring in three new faces and says all the deals are close to completion.

Wigan forward King, 28, is expected to join on a season-long loan, while Sheffield United frontman Hulse, 28, would cost about £2m.

Derby had been hoping for about £1m for Scotland international Pearson but the deal is now thought to be worth about £600,000

If this comes of then a might start considering Derby to be a promotion pushing team this season

We said that last season mate about us, as for Hulsey possibly leaving, I'm not too bothered, he's done naff all since he came back, maybe it will be better for him to go else where see if he can get as good as he was.

I'd be pleased to get 2 million for him, he had a good season in the premiership until he got injured, but all he did last season was miss sitters.
I like him and will wish him luck, just dont think we need him with Beattie, Sharp, Stead and Webber.

Hulse can go, he's been rubbish since he came back and his only decent outing was against Norwich. Let him go to a non-promotion chasing, mid-table struggling team like Derby :D

initially 1.75mil. replacement already lined up. hulse has permission to talk

Thanks to Rob Hulse for giving us a modicum of respectability in the Premier League. He can now miss sitters for Derby.

stead has missed a fair few sitters too but alot still want him?

a replacement in too?

didnt think marlon kind would be moving too.

I think its a shame to see him going, that said, one year on his contract left, he hasnt shown that he has recovered yet from the awful injury so maybe its good business.

Beattie is the best target man in the division, and Hulse is 2nd.

Hulse is an excellent striker, who was forced back too soon as BT got injured after xmas.

I reckon he'll be excellent for the sheep shaggers

Looks like he's going :(

ROB HULSE has left Sheffield United's pre-season tour of Hungary, Belgium and Holland to hold talks with Derby County.
United manager Kevin Blackwell granted the striker permission to meet with officials from Pride Park after the two clubs agreed an as yet undisclosed fee.
Hulse, who played 45 minutes of last night's 3-1 victory over KVK Tienen, was linked with a move to United's Championship rivals earlier this summer only for the move to fall through.
The former Leeds and Crewe marksman recently returned to full fitness after suffering a double-leg fracture during a Premier League fixture at Chelseas last year.
"We have agreed a figure with Derby and Rob is travelling to see them as we speak," Blackwell told The Star.
Earlier, Derby boss Paul Jewell wants to bring in three new faces and claims all the deals are close to completion.
He said: "We have made offers for two strikers and a midfield player, we are hoping the deals will happen. We are hoping a deal for the midfielder might be sorted out by the end of the week and one, if not both of the strikers, can get done maybe today or the day after."
Jewell has previously said Hulse would be a terrific signing, but only at the right price.
Derby sources say they expect Crewe-born Hulse, 28, to cost about £2m.

Good luck Rob sad to see you go, thanks for the memories and goals

If he goes good luck to him- but you cant be certain that he will ever fully recover from his broken leg

good luck to him, hope its not henderson coming in for him :(

Can't agree he was rushed back to be honest, I just think he has been poor. He has shown he is capable at times, but it's been far too little

Sorry mate, but unless you've suffered similar, got some medical or physio-therapy experience that we don't know about, then how can you say that with such certainty?

Hence the reason me stating I just "think" he has been poor.

I meant the bit about rushing him back. Didn't staff admit at some stage last season that he was rushed back?

Like I say, I wouldn't agree. This is of course opinion. Irrelevant of what others may or may not have said.

Taken from today's Star....

KEVIN Blackwell today admitted that Sheffield United are taking a gamble by selling Rob Hulse to Championship rivals Derby County but insisted: "We are doing the right thing."
Hulse flew back from United's tour of Europe last night to negotiate his transfer to Pride Park after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for his services.

He is expected to be officially unveiled as Paul Jewell's latest capture of the summer this afternoon.

Blackwell, whose players continue their pre-season programme with a friendly against Helmond Sport tomorrow, confirmed his inability to guarantee the 28-year-old a regular starting role next term was behind his decision.

But he conceded that, in an ideal world, he would prefer not to see Hulse join a team expected to feature among United's main rivals for promotion.

Blackwell told The Star: "Of course I'd rather not see Rob go to someone who are likely to challenge us.

"But there are only a small number of people who can afford someone like him and so you've got to weigh everything up, including the fact that he is in the last year of his contract.

"Like anything else, there are business considerations and there are sporting considerations.

"I couldn't ensure that Rob would be featuring in every game for us and that's obviously what he wants and needs.

"I can't keep people here for the sake of it and, if I did that, then I'd run the risk of having an unhappy squad, and that's not a situation I want to be in.

"Importantly, we've done this deal on our terms and done what we feel is right for us."

Derby first enquired about Hulse's availability last month only for a war of words to break out following comments attributed to their chairman, Adam Pearson.

Hulse, who played 45 minutes of Wednesday's game against KVK Tienen, made 24 appearances for United last season after recovering from a career-threatening leg injury sustained at Chelsea in March 2007.

We want Cotterill ;)

hell yeh we do ;)

Derby are set to sign striker Rob Hulse if he passes a medical on Friday but will miss out on Marlon King, reports BBC Radio Derby.

A fee that could rise to £2m has been agreed with Sheffield United for 28-year-old Hulse.

Wigan striker King, 28, is believed to have opted to join a newly promoted Premier League side ahead of the Rams.

Midfielder Stephen Pearson's move to Birmingham is also expected to be completed on Friday.

Derby had been hoping for £1m for Scotland international Pearson but the deal is now thought to be worth about £600,000.

The Rams are chasing an unnamed midfielder to replace Pearson

Glad they arent getting King, i think hes class in this league

blackwell said that he had been rushed back and wasnt upto full fitness didnt he?

its alot to overcome a broken leg and to do it in the time he has was abit unfair on him. Fair play for trying but some sitters missed.

Did ace for us in the prem and a shame to loose him as he is a good backup for BT. He may want first team football and £2million isnt that bad. Isnt he in the last year of contract?

That's just great, we can't get rid of Hulse! If there's anyone to blame for rushing him back in it's that useless b#%£$@* Robson!

another thing, Why are we selling hulse if BT is injured?

another thing, Why are we selling hulse if BT is injured?

Because even with selling Hulse and Beattie being injured (minor injury though isn't it?) we have adequate cover in my eyes.

Who can hold the ball up front and lead the line then?

Because stead cant, and hes been just as bad for missing sitters as hulse.
