I'm a positive Blade (at least by our standards) but I can't see us winning today purely due to us never winning BIG home league games. We have a decent record in cups, play offs etc. but never seem to win the big league games at home when we really need to.

Can anyone think of a big one we've won at home in the past 10 - 20 years aside from the odd derby day win??

What a lovely negative post on the dawn of the biggest game of the season.

What does the past matter, it`s the now that we should be concentrating on.

P.s Utd 3 Bradford 1 last season ;)

Ha ha, we were mid table so the pressure was probably off.

I should have said I do think we'll get promoted this season, just find it fascinating that we can never seem to get the win for the big ones. Maybe today is finally the time we get the business done.

Have to agree. We never seem to do well against the teams we're challenging at the top with. We haven't been able to beat Scunny this year, we were never going to beat Charlton or Reading the last times we were in promotion positions. Its just not something we're good at. Until today of course....

Hopefully Keef, the performance was there last week, just needed a bit of luck. As long as we win 8 out of the remaining games, suppose it doesn't matter who it's against.

Well at some point things have to change and this current set up looks as likely to do it as anyone.

Still think we'll draw today though, which I would be happy enough with.

Wins in big games are a bit too good for us unfortunately.

The first game Morgan took over after Wilson, we won 3-0. We were both still in with chance of the automatics and was 3-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Wasn't the last massive home league game we won

The 5-1 win against Cardiff in 1971

The first leg against Yeovil in the playoffs in 2013.

How many BIG home league games have there been?

You've said cup games don't count, Derby games don't. There can't really be too many more and it all depends on what you class as a BIG game.

Wigan in the Premiership was one. I'm guessing you're counting last week but in comparison with the Wigan game it wasn't a big game at all. Preston and Forest in the play-offs were both big games, do they count or does it not suit your argument?

Let's be honest, its ages since we had a reallly big home game in the league. Wigan in Prem brings back terrible memories.
However it's all different now. Chris Wilder is taking us to places we've never been, enjoy the ride.

For me it would be when we beat WHU 3-0 in our last prem season, really thought we'd stay up after that match......

Was a decade ago which I guess proves your point but not a day to explore the reasons, lets just get behind the team today.

Here's to hoping this site lights up like a christmas tree with more positivity this evening and we've created enough efforts on target.

Not an argument mate, just a discussion.

I'm thinking big home league games towards the end of the season that mean something, or games with big crowds with something riding on it, we just don't seem to win those games.

Like I said, can't think of a huge amount of big league home games we've won. As someone said, Hull in 2006, derby win in 2005, Leeds win back in 2004, derby win in 2003. We had to beat Stoke in 1997 to solidify play offs, so suppose thats one. Other than that, not many spring to mind.

I thought the same, that was a cracking win, we battered them that day. Thought we were high and dry after that!...then came Charlton and Villa away games.

You started by saying we don't win big home games but you've just listed 5. How many have we lost in the same period of time?

its hard to remember winning a big game like this as weve not been top of league one too often playing a big rival

our last league one promotion year was 32 years ago so such memories will be vague

year we finished 3rd we beat preston 2-1 at home around this time
and didnt lose any of our last 5 home games
