That appointment will piss Vaughan off. Anyone check the nobs twatter?

If I may...young Root is clearly playing a pull shot so no place for a straight bat there gents.

He's a bit good that lad....my son played Yorkshire schools level til he had to choose between footy and cricket. My lad was a pretty good opener technique wise and made a few good scores, but speaking to folk who nurtured young Joe through the pathways programme he was on another level from a very young age.
Completely dedicated to his cricket and being the best. Can't recall the coach he had....think it might have been Chris Old?? But by all accounts he was facing the bowling machine at adult speeds and past his nose in his early teens. Takes some doing does that.

Edit....it was Kevin Sharpe.....extra E just for a giggle before a gasket is blown.

Assuming we go up- we should sack Captain Blade. Pathetic excuse for a mascot.

I think we should ask about Miller Bear. I've been really impressed whenever I've seen him- put in loads of effort with a healthy irreverence. He's proved himself at Championship level and has potential to make it to the Premier League.

Why? Why not give Mr Cutler a chance. He's made a few appearances, and then disappeared ( I blame Adkins) surely we'll never know how good he is if he doesn't get a run at farting about on the pitch and touchline waving to kids.

Come clean, PandaCola. With a name like that, you're pitching for the job. Red and white panda would be good.

Just drop a red and white shirt on this fella... He's already got the crossed sword thing sorted.

Granted, he may need to tone down the violence and swear words a bit. Only around the family stand though.

I always understood Joe Root was a pig but on the bbc news tonight, reporting his appointment as England captain, they had a photo of him in an old blades' shirt (with the Wards logo on the front). Is he a blade or a pig? I think we should know.

And this is what Sharp'e'y has to say about it all down my neck of the woods, top bloke...

WORCESTERSHIRE batting coach Kevin Sharp has revealed his pride at Joe Root becoming England Test captain - and finally intends to honour a 13-year-old agreement he made with the Yorkshire batsman.

Sharp worked closely with Root during his formative years at Headingley when part of the Tykes coaching set-up and has kept in touch with England's number three.

The pair talked in the early days about Sharp going to watch Root if and when he played for England at Lord's.

Now Root has stepped into Alastair Cook's role as skipper, Sharp is hoping to fulfil that promise this summer against South Africa in July.

He said: "You feel a lot of pride (about Root becoming captain) and Joe keeps in touch. In fact he sent me a photo the other day of his new child and a nice message.

"We had this little bit of banter of when he was young of me going to watch him to play at Lord's and I haven't been yet.

"He said that as a 13-year-old and every year he has reminded me 'I haven't been yet'.

"This could be the year. I'll see if my boss (Steve Rhodes) will let me have a day off work and perhaps the first day of the Test match at Lord's, this could be the year to go.

"I said to him two years ago 'I will come when you are captain' so now he is made captain, I've got to go haven't I! He always says he will leave me two tickets."

Sharp says that Root always remembers the people who have helped him reach the top of the cricketing tree.

He said: "The thing about Joe is he doesn't forget the people who have supported him.

"That's the good thing. He keeps in touch. A message will come through. I don't pester him at all but just occasionally, he might send a message."

Sharp, who is also Worcestershire’s Second Eleven coach, admits he relishes working with young talented players.

He said: "For me, as a coach, I've been very lucky at Yorkshire and Worcestershire, to work with some great young players.

"It's what I enjoy most and if, at the end of the day, there are players out there who say 'you made a difference to me' then I couldn't be happier really."

Hopefully Joe Clarke will soon be following in Roots footsteps, that would be quality :)

Well done top blade. Did anyone hear that wanky snort beast Vaughan on BBC this morning? Strikes me more every time I see him how typical of all grunters he is. Deluded self important wank stain.... Or is that unfair on wank stains?

Joe with his dad Matt (in the middle) and Sheffield Collegiate chairman Richard Ibbotson who was a friend of Paul Woolhouse's

I want to know why nobody asked him "If you're such a big Wednesday fan, why do you go to watch Man U so often?" - the tosser.

And he made the comment that he didn't like SUFC when set up by Dan Walker who is also of a blue/ white persuasion I believe.
Interestingly he didn't comment earlier in the interview when Dan referred to him as a fellow Yorkshireman!

Did I dream it or did Joe say in his Calendar interview that he's was looking forward to our next match, Bolton away?

If he did, he's forgiven, as he has had a lot on his plate this week!

I'm not surprised. Walker's from Crawley.
