It's a shame, I thought Clarke would be a great player to throw on towards the end of a game. With his reputation in league one I thought he'd get a fair few goals. Just hope this isn't another James Wallace situation where he's injured for the majority of his contract.

Would anyone take a punt on him in the summer? League One or Two?

I think there'd be a big line of League 1 and 2 clubs wanting to sign him.

Hanson and Moore available is the real headline news there for me, big boost.

I guess it would depend on his wage expectations. At his age and seeming fitness issues his career may be on the downward curve, if that's the case he'd have to lower those expectations. Probably got more than enough to still do a job in League 2

I thought the same in respect of being a good player to bring on off the bench, and he showed in the Chesterfield game that he's capable of making an impact, but injuries have got in the way and it's not really happened for him.
Good news that Moore and Hanson are ok though.

If we go up I think Clarke (fitness permitting) will leave in the summer.

Same for Scougall, Long, Done & McNulty.

I think Clarke missed his big chance, been injured since and would not really figure now we have other better options, not sure why McNulty was brought back as I see him warming the bench only, I know he was chucked on but we have better quality through out now, Agree with treeton about the ones above will be moved on, I think Hussey and Long might also find alternative clubs come the summer too.

Going to be difficult to move Clarke on, should CW choose to do so, as he's done nothing this season to make other teams want to sign him. His injury problems will deter teams and the money he's on at Utd and the length of his contract, will mean he's unlikely to get anything like a similar deal elsewhere. He will be out of reach for other teams, should they be prepared to gamble on his fitness, unless he is prepared to take a wage reduction and why would he at his age.

If and when we do go up, McNulty and Done will not cut it at Championship level and will have to be moved on. CW has shown he is prepared to be ruthless, so I don't believe any of Clarke, Done or McNulty will be part of CW's plans next season, when we are at the level above.

IF we did go up, I think a fair few might be looking elsewhere.

Retain - Moore, Eastwood (3rd choice), Freeman, Lafferty, Basham, Wright, O'Connell, Coutts, Fleck, Duffy, Carruthers, Brooks, Whiteman, Sharp, Hanson, Lavery, Wright

Under threat - Long, Brayford, Hussey, Wilson, Reed, Scougall, O'Shea, Done, Clarke, McNulty

End of loan - EBL, Riley, Chapman

Wouldn't mind seeing Chapman return next year depending on Boro's situation. Brayford will obviously be a talking point.

Some would very much benefit a move whilst others need to make a compelling case in the coming weeks.

How much is Clarke on?

McNulty 'under threat?'. Surely the only intelligent option would be to put him on a slow boat to China, it'll give the lad time to think about the reasons so many managers gave him the chance to show what he can do but failed to announce the arrival of a genuine goal scoring talent.

In the summer we'll have 22 contracted professional players when the loanees have gone back, assuming certain extensions are triggered (hopefully 24 if Brooks and Whiteman are contracted beyond the summer, maybe 25 if O'Shea will be joining).

We'll want to make at least 4 new signings in the summer if we go up, and these will be on decent wages. So you wouldn't want the squad to be unnecessarily cluttered, you'd want to make room for it financially and control the squad numbers - 30 odd players would be too many.

The remaining contracted players we'd have to look to move on are K Wallace, Hussey, Wilson, Scougall, Done and Clarke.

That would give us a solid squad of 16-19 to build on, which would be ideal. Adding 4 good first team regulars to that and maybe 1 or 2 others would be perfect. Then we'd have the youth players on the fringes as well.

Oh and Brayford. Can't believe I forgot him. Lose those 7 and we'd make a lot of room on the wage bill.

Isnt O'Shea on a loan until the end of the season?

Didn't realise K.Wallace was still our player, forgot all about him.

Only ones I'd let go are long and mcnulty, possibly wallace but I wonder if Wilder could work on him like he's done with Freeman and Coutts. I'd be happy to keep Done and Scougall. Done works well with Billy and no reason to think I wouldn't be worth giving them a try together next season. Scougall also is a useful player to have and is having a pretty decent season. I think the rigours of a championship season if we go up will mean Wilder wants strength in numbers and a biggish squad.

Sorry Champers. I just can't bring myself to think that far ahead old pal. o_O

Wallace has gone hate to disappoint

We've got rid of Kieron too? I thought it was a loan.

I was checking this out a couple of weeks ago. He definitely was on loan at Fleetwood and seems to have played one league game and 2 checkatrade trophy games, and was last seen in November. On the Fleetwood website he was listed as a player but there was no photograph. He seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know where?

No rush Leon, no rush whatsoever.

I did the same before the Fleetwood game. It's a mystery.
