OK sbt. I shall. I also have an old scarf knitted by my stone deaf from birth auntie. She somehow misunderstood my instructions to knit a red and white striped scarf, with a small black band in the middle of the white stripe. She knitted the small black stripe in the middle of the red stripe.
When I was 5, this dissapointed me. However, over the years, I came to love that scarf, not only because my now dead deaf auntie made it for me with her bare hands, and her own wool, but because you don't get many scarves with the black stripe in the middle of the red stripe. It was unique.
After the playoff final (prob Preston maybe Huddersfield) as I was leaving the ground, to the sound of our own fans singing "we're the famous Sheff United and we're shit at wemberley", a copper said to me, "that scarf looks like it's seen a few games over the years" ......the scarf has seen better days,......
"yes, it's been with me for all our major disappointments", I said.
Although that scarf is somewhere in my house, as it stands, I don't know where it is.
It's all been my fault.
But I think I have it sorted now....
