Errrr so why did you completely change the formation in the second half then Chris?[/QUOTE

We been changing the formation all season and upto this bad patch we've be doing alright. Let's get behind Wider and the team.

If it's the play offs this season so be it. We've already written our chances off if we get to play Walsall. That list has now doubled with the addition of Fleetwood;)

Just a quick one on him saying it was disappointing not to get Hanson involved tonight. I wonder if they could've done anything different with the transfer to get it done quicker because they seemed to be in discussions for ages with him. Could be nothing but it's always good to see some conspiracy theories to lighten the mood. :)

Re: conspiracy theories, some interesting comments in there....

If Hanson was Wilder's first choice, we'd have been in for him at the start of January instead of the arse-end....

"The club have been super in backing us within the budget we've worked to and we feel we are set"

Perhaps Wilder requested increasing the budget to get a player such as Lee Gregory in?

Not unusual request for a manager if certain targets are met/the team is up the top end.

How fickle some fans, and how quickly they can turn on a manager.

Nothing at all wrong with that interview. The point about the players hearing them cheer is that it should anger his players and make them want to put it right. Wilder has also been critical of players not taking chances and not shooting from outside the box. Hence the return of McNulty, and arrival of others who will.
That lack of taking chances builds pressure on defenders and gives encouragement and confidence to opponents.

Now, grow a fucking pair, back your team, back your manager and get on with supporting this lot to winning the league.

I think you may be a little "optimistic" regarding winning the league mate ....... o_O

I'm certainly not turning on Tufty, however, he gets the plaudits for the good things and he must therefore take some flak for the bad. ( without need for pitchforks or witchhunts )

I'm disappointed that he didn't hold his hands up and admit that he'd got it wrong with team selections in the last two games !! Done at LWB ?? MCNulty starting ?? No changes in CH despite some clear loss of form ??

He expected a reaction against Gillingham and didn't get it ......... and definitely got a turgid, gutless display last night which was dangerously close to what we saw under Adkins. Personally ...... I wouldn't pay the players this week as they don't deserve it !!

What it has shown us is that we are certainly NOT as good as some optimistic individuals think we are ......... teams who are top two grind out wins when they don't play well, but they don't ship 8 goals in 3 games and barely look like threatening the other side's goalkeeper. We have thrown away a very good, very clear opportunity to put some distance between us and the 2nd / 3rd place sides and I regret to say that I believe that this will come back to haunt us in May. How many people predicted that Scunny would implode and drop away ......... looks dangerously like we may do similar ........

We are also very easily exposed by pace, which we have little of and any side with two quick fullbacks quickly nullify our wingbacks and therefore stifle our play. We have passed up the opportunity to bring in some pace of our own upfront and look to be relying on Clarke, Done and McNulty ( who can't score at the moment), Lavery ( who looks to have promise but has a lot of work to do to be a regular scorer) Hanson ( who will surely be an impact player off the bench) and Billy Sharp ( who is the only player we have who can consistently find the net, but our over-reliance on him is frightening )

I've been backing my team for 52 years now and I can assure you that I've seen this before with United ....... deja-vu ...... it's called "pressing the self-destruct button"

That game last night may turn out to be a pivotal point in this years fortunes ......... I just hope that Tufty is true to his word and refuses to accept performances like that and punishes the transgressors by dropping them ;)

This is the second time recently that Wilder has directly mentioned budget to the media. On each occasion it could be seen as honest communication to the fans or a way to put pressure on the board (or both).

He also took the unusual (for him step) in naming two players before they had signed.

Could this have been done to ensure the funds were released by the board?

Are we seeing Wilder trying to get everything out of th board by playing the media?

I agree with most of that mate.

What I would say is that we've now got 3 new players to shake up the attacking side of our game and maybe Riley's pace could help us defensively.

It must be hard to legislate as to why vital players like EEL for instance should be so much off his game and not even doing the basics. I bet Wilder thought he'd ticked all the boxes this window, but we're either going to see if his famed man-management is as good as it's said to, be or he'll need to get somebody else in. Either way I'm glad that we've not got a game this weekend, because I think it's going to take time to sort out their heads.

In the actual interview (worth a listen), he absolutely backs the board and says they've been fantastic with him. Certainly doesn't sound like he's working with his hands tied, nor does it look like he is with how many players we seem to have now.

Not aimed at you Jan Age, I just think a lot of people need to calm their tits a bit and brush this past couple of week off. Let them get back on the training pitch, get our new lads involved and go again. Not seen anything bar a very poor display last night to suggest there is anyone better in this division than us - it'll all come together again. Remember us having a similar wobble last time we got promoted - just a stage in the season when we need to get behind them. And on that note, can the crowd please make some bastard noise?? Crap atmosphere the last few games!

Mid season inertia!! it's how you recover from it that matters.Wilder has brought in players to strengthen and improve the squad which means we should be able to kick on.Carutthers,o,shea and Hanson will add something to what we have ( plan b) Wilder must be disappointed at some fans reaction to this blip after doing a great job so far

Haven't listened to interview so I may have missed it but I'm concerned that he doesn't seem too concerned about our defence. Seems to be placing blame on teams sitting back and us not being able to break them down. Fact is if our defence did the basics at a very minimum in the last 3 games we easily come away with 7/9 points. They've been worse than schoolboy. Walsall was a pathetic showing getting done 4 times on the counter and we should've learnt our lesson and we didn't. Gillingham was another two pathetic goals to concede and the 2nd yesterday was shambolic, Can't keep blaming poor results on teams sitting in deep, we have to learn how to defend properly if we're serious about automatic

Isn't it funny how managers' interviews aren't as good when we're losing. Adkins could have wanked on about geese all season if we'd been winning but when we're losing it doesn't matter what a manager says, he's a shit idiot who knows nowt.

We win at Southend and we were going to win the league by 15 points and now I suppose we will be lucky to scrape in the play-offs. We have to keep calm and move on

whilst i agree completely with the above comment by CW , i believe like most fans (well 99%) that we will ofcourse lose games in any division no matter where we are in the league

its the manner of last nights defeat that slightly concerns me,

Walsall, our bogey team and in general just an off day/poor defending
Gills, played some lovely football , scores good goals but punished for awful defending

last night, really really poor , the energy, enthusiasm and pressing just seemed to be completely lacking ( and of course the dreadful defending again!)

maybe this is a great time for a break, regroup and come back fighting which i think (and hope ) we will do
but more performances like last night and it would be a concern

I might be talking out of my arse here (again) but he's one of us, you can bet he'll be hurting like we are. But it's down to him to put it right, and I think he will.

Goes without saying " we have to improve on last night's reformatted "
But give some credit to Fleetwood will watch there results from now on
good team.

Everything was wrong last night - Initial team selection Why McNulty and Basham ??? Was CW trying to make a point ?
It has been crying out to bring Jake Wright back in - The defence has been horrendous !
Substitutions were bizarre - What it did prove is that McNulty and Scougall need to be shipped out as soon as possible
Little Fleetwood looked far better than United in almost every department - Rosler certainly won the battle last night !
No all is not lost - Hopefully Carruthers, O'Shea and Hanson can rejuvenate the team - Last night reminded me of an Adkins performance last season !

fair play , they were very good in what they did , they did do a number on us and played the perfect away win

as you say one to watch, i remember Brentford easily beating us when Rosler was there and he is doing a excellent job

My theory is that he's not been playing Jake Wright to fuck with us, so that we lose a few games, and when we go up on the last day of the season it'll be more exciting.

Certain players who were involved in our good run of results to the top of the table must have been dreading that their place in the team would be seriously challenged by new signings during the transfer window. Having an influx of new players who will have to adapt to a style of play suggests that, as at the start of the season it will be a getting to know you period again. I wonder if said threatened players put everything into their game, knowing that they may not be part of the first eleven anymore. For whatever reason ,standards have reverted to those shown in the first four games, Perhaps we would have been better not upsettig the apple cart ,and motivating the players who have got us to the top of the league instead

I tend to agree that the new recruits obviously pose a threat to certain players in the squad who might be replaced. Wilder's earlier statement listed a few players who could make the grade at the Championship level. Those not included in that list could think that promotion isn't in their best interests and show up in their performances. Moore's dip in performance coincides with Wilder's omission of his name in the Championship capable list.

Many of our fans could see from last nights team selection and the one before we'd not learned anything from the Walsall game.

There seems to be a dangerous whiff of self destructive stubbornness in there somewhere.

Think he gave a nod to that towards the end of the interview at 08.46:

"I've got to pick the right team"

"Not going to change the way we play just because of this little run we are on. We have to tweak a bit but I want us to pass the ball."

Halleluyah. That will disappoint the S2 Hoofwaffe :)

Are you suggesting that there are some who would prefer to just see us hoofing it?

Not some. Lots. Many of whom sat near and around me last night and, bluntly, know the square root of fuck all about football.

Are they wanting to see hoof for the sake of seeing it or are they just wanting to see us try something different? After all, the short passing game got us nowhere yesterday.

I'm assuming you're placing yourself in the group that know something about football

Last chance saloon for McNulty. fair to say he didn't take it. Wider gave him the chance as with Coutts and Freeman. Think it will be goodbye now.

Exactly what I was about to say.
having said that if you don't choose the right personnel some things will never work.
