Strange move by wilder to put him in there. He stated when he joined that he wouldn't be playing done at left back or wing back, did he not? I'm sure he laughed when it was mentioned to him

So I've no idea why Done is there? Surely a player like Riley would suit it better or even O'Connell and put Wright at centre half.

Not having a go at Done as I like him and his role alongside Billy, but please Mr Wilder, don't put him in this position again. It weakens the left side

Riley is a kid who's only played one game since injury and has only just rolled up at BDTBL, so I'm comfortable that he starts on the bench. That said, I won't be happy if Done continues at wing back - I'm sure he won't.

Matt Done isn't the reason we've shipped 32 goals this season. The answer to that lies in one or two forum favourites who are therefore immune from criticism.

There's nothing wrong with Matt Done per se, it's just that most times he's picked there seems to be a better option sitting on the sideline.

You're right there and can only really comment on the few games I've watched, it's certainly not pinning blame on Done for yesterday, more an observation.

Done just didn't seem to play to his strengths there yesterday and I'd say he looked lost/ exposed a lot.

The back three missed a leader and giving two sloppy goals away like that probably wouldn't have happened with Wright in there.

My issue with Done at Left Wing back is that when we have the ball he's too deep. It seriously winds me up big time. Push up onto the full back and when the ball is on the opposite flank, get in the fecking box.

I can't tell you how angry this makes me!!!!!

In hindsight it was probably less of gamble if he's a natural wing back

I agree. If Wilder no longer sees fit to play him up front, I'd rather he just dropped Done altogether, rather than playing him in an alien position and incurring the wrath of the supporters, which I don't think he deserves.
In any case, the main priority should be assembling a defence that fulfills its job description.

If the lineup doesn't inclue Riley or Lafferty on the left and Jake Wright in the middle of our back three I'll uppercut Wilder in my head and then caress his hair whilst he lay there unconscious.

I seriously contemplated that when he brought on McNulty for Lavary when we were back level and pushing on.

Done's not to blame personally - he does whatever job he's asked to do, and puts in 110%. His attitude's first class.

Just that, if we have got aspirations, he (like Basham, another 110%er) needs to be a squad player, not a first team regular.

Nail on head!

Said in a different thread that maybe if Riley had been here an extra week and seen us play then he might have got the nod. I like Done but he's no wing back as last season proves. Doesn't say much for Husseys chances though does it?. According to Wilder Lafferty could well be back Tuesday though. I'm slightly more worried about the middle 3 at the moment though

Moving this topic on slightly, we have a good team but not that good that we can play people just because they are versatile. I consider Done and Basham our weakest links personally just because they don't really have a position. Hopefully people will now appreciate Lafferty and Wright a bit more.

We don't concede that 2nd goal if Wright is organising the backline. We need a leader in the back 3

Done is getting a lot of stick for being made to play in a position we all know he shouldn't be playing in.

I still think he adds a lot upfront, if not at the moment goals. He's a good option off the bench, if not starting.

Im more then slightly worried, they all can be prone to silly mistakes and recently we've seen the consequences this week.

Reading this forum I'd say we all pretty much agree that for the Fleetwood game Lafferty (if fit) or Riley should replace Done and Jake Wright should come in for Basham/EEL. Based on current form I'd say drop EEL

O'Connell was to blame for the 2nd, each of the back three are prone to mistakes. Got to get it sorted and bring in new players at the back.

Wright at CB for some solidarity
Riley at LWB to freshen things up a bit, give the crowd something positive to look forward to
Done up front again, energy and pressing from the front. He'll grab a goal soon.

I think people appreciate that he's doing a job and it's perhaps a reflection on how much wilder likes what he offers that he's stuck his neck out to play him out of position, rather than play hussey

I think wilder has to now accept that it hasn't worked and that Done can sit on the bench or play alongside Sharp....

Everyone has a bad day or week, Wilder has had a shocker. Walsall & Gillingham games, but bring back Wright for Basham or EEL, stick Lafferty in for Done and forget thoughts of Hanson and we're good to go against Fleetwood

Southend was a 30 minute fill in job - that's fine.

Walsall? - ok, can just about live with that.

Gills at home - very surprised. He wasn't very productive down the left - bit like fish out of water. Disappointed the new lad didn't get on.

Hope it changes on Tuesday.

He wanted a response from the team that lost, to give the players a chance to show that Walsall wasn't a one off. They've let him down a bit. With hindsight, perhaps he should have played JOC at LB and brought Wright back. But there's a danger then that he starts to get Adkins like, fucking around with the team every time they lose, so that the players feel like they're going to get dropped if they have one bad game. That's not what he's about.

It looks like he's given up in Hussey (unless he's injured?) and it was probably too soon to risk Riley, he's not had enough first team experience to just drop straight in and having a poor debut wouldn't help him.

I expect to see some changes on Tuesday.

Yeah and I love all that about wilder. Gave them a chance to put things right... which they kind of did In the top two thirds.... but silly errors and not handling two long throws cost us

We need our leader back.

What is happening with Hussey? He was on the bench against Walsall and then disappeared. He's good enough to fill in, unless he's off somewhere. Certainly a much better option than Done. Done can't really defend.
