He has just signed a 12 month contract extension at Chesterfield. So can everybody shut the hell up about him now, he wasnt coming back, he isnt coming back...let that be the very end of it and no more bloody ched threads. UTB

How can you be a football fan and not know that the reason why most players are offered contract extensions is because it protects the club should another club come in to buy them?. In fact, it's usually a sign that they fear losing a player because there is strong interest in them - so they are desperate to get them on a longer contract quickly.

Why do you think Wolves have rushed to get Ebanks Landell on a longer contract? Because they are desperate to keep him? Or because they know that Sheffield United are very likely to want to buy him at the end of the season and therefore they want to make as much on that as possible by giving him a longer contract now - which we will force us to pay more for him? I know which I think it is, and it isn't the former.

Contracts are a total irrelevance. I must be honest, I'm amazed that fans don't understand that. It doesn't mean a player is staying anywhere, just because they signed a longer contract. It just means the club will get more money for them when they go - and meanwhile the player has assured earnings for longer.

So as to Mr Ched...well...if he can prove that he is capable of regaining full-fitness and gets back to somewhere near his best form then there will be a queue of clubs knocking on Chesterfield's door to take him. But that's the $64 million question. Can he be that good again? And I think that's the reason why we haven't gone in for him yet - but watch this space - especially if we get promoted.

Plus, we have not even shown any interest, it was all paper talk. Fuck him, he had 1 good season. Then fucked us over.
