What a difference, a midfield makes!

I was curious as to how many "assists" we had been credited with this year as a team and already, we are one in front of the entire last season and last season our top assister, was Sharp, scary times indeed.

I apologise in advance for some of the names I am making you read again.....

Where are these figures from? I am sure it said the other day that Duffy had two assists against Southend alone, I find it hard to believe he has only got one other assist this season. Yeah they're definitely wrong Sharp has five assists.

Love the fact that Ramsdale's got an assist as a back up keeper, what a boy!
 
Good stats but doesnt tell the whole story as a player can be involved massively in the build up but not the final assist ? I think that our whole midfield 3 tend to be really involved in our goals as in the Freeman goal v Southend which involved a lot of clever interplay between our midfield (Carruthers was on at the time) which bamboozled their defence and allowed the space for Freeman to score . Long may it continue !
 
Didnt realise they were wrong... took them from the Football League website (so its league assists only) and expected them to be right........
 
Where's Hammond? I remember him playing a stunning through ball for Scunthrope's first goal against us at the Lane last season..

And who can forget him setting up Rooney's last minute penalty at Old Trafford?

Doesn't bother me whether they are right or wrong, it's a positive post and I am now officially a positive blade (y) :-)

Yes but 20 gifts or penalties? If a player makes a pass and a defender gets a bit of a touch on it, or something like Laverys goal against Southend, would the assist not go to the one who originally made the pass?

For a league 1 central midfielder, especially one who's expected to be involved in defending the goal as well as creating, that's outstanding.
