"You know, it isn't always about the beautiful game, playing fantastic football and being pleasing on the eye, they've got to show a lot of attributes to gain success."

What does it say on the screen -'Wilder on run'? They're not going to arrest him, are they? I knew it would all end in tears.

I've read the quote and it seems Wilder makes no mention of hoof ball. Nor does it seem the team is playing hoof ball. So, in fact, this thread proves a point.

It was more the fact that it perfectly aligned to contradict everything Pinchy bangs on about. "Beautiful game" and such like.

Pinchy doesn't bang on about the beautiful game, playing fantastic football and it being pleasing on the eye?

I was commenting that Wilder says it's not all about "fantastic football" as you quote, but other aspects.

To clarify, Wilder does not say that "fantastic football" is being sacrificed for a more pragmatic approach. I suggest he is mixing it up. Has Pinchy said this is a bad thing? Or is it a straight argument about aimless hoof balls versus pass and move?

Never mind, seems to me you'll get some likes off the regular anti-Pinchys.

Any team that wants to achieve, it isn't always about the beautiful game.

No, not always. It can be sometimes. Sometimes it needs to be something else. The two things aren't mutually exclusive. Shut up Barney.

It seems to me you're over thinking it. Pinchy bangs on about the things I mentioned as I'm sure you'll accept, he is renowned for it. Then Wilder comes in and says what he does about those very things. What he means by the other aspects I've no idea as he doesn't expand on that. I just thought it was quite ironic that was all.

Wilder has very often emphasised playing the "right way" and the importance of "playing football". Infinitely more important than that the team is actually playing the right way. The football is pass and move and it's great to watch,

If you Hoofers think you have an ally in Tufty, you must be watching his team with your eyes closed.

I find the anti-proper football stance of some on here quite bizarre, particularly at a time when we're sweeping all before us by playing the right way!

Can you identify which posters you think are hoofers? Always lost by you chucking this comment about here there and everywhere?

Not that you were shit stirring at all :)

Pinchy has a view on the game that I don't always agree with, but wanting to be "entertained" doesn't make him a criminal you know ;)

I think they identify themselves very well on this thread, don't you? Taking one of Tufty's interviews in isolation; kidding themselves they've got a point when Tufty has spoken often about "good football" and the "right way" and much more importantly, actually plays the right way, Twisting our excellent managers words beyond breaking point so as to suggest he favours their "alehouse, unapatem" style when his team shouts out to the contrary, is disingenuous, embarrassing and plain daft. Given the combined brain power of those promoting this silly thread, I can't say I'm surprised.

Enough brainpower to send you into a fit of Tourettes every time I eviscerate you on here it would seem.

The more I read this, the more preposterous it seems.

Barney, you may well be watching a different team to me. Hoofers we are not. We are a team who utilise every trick in the book in order to win. Quick, slow, long, short, stand off, press. Whatever it takes.

Especially the one, who despite having his knuckles rapped by those who run the site, offended quite a few members in the five minutes he's been here and despite promising the owners he would behave; simply can't control himself.

For my part, I promised not to engage with him. I haven't; I won't.
