Couple of things:

a. January Transfer Window
b. Kevin McCabe

I love us being top and playing like I want Sheffield United to play. But those two things ...

Come back 01 Feb 2017. We have one tricky match between now and then and could get 10 to 12 points if we don't sell players.

pommpey
Already spending money .samir already joined us from mk dons

There are a select few on here who absolutely despise Dave Bassett.

Well, when I say a select few I mean one.

Unthinkable I know but it's true.

I don't despise old DD. I ridicule numpties who won't leave him and his "football" in the past where they most certainly belong.

For the newcomer's benefit, my tasks are to expose uncomfortable truths; to combat silly Bladey Bladeness; to promote proper football over mindless, grotesque Hoof and to balance the never ending supply of drivel with a little common sense.

But you can't deny that Bassett's football, however ugly, got results?

I prefer results over style of play but that's just me.

I've said this so often but one more time: better football produces better results. It's hardly a controversial statement and very much borne out by history.

You like grotesque, alehouse football? Good. Wimbledon videos are available at all shite Betamax outlets. I'll stick with proper football, often termed by professionals the "right way" - they don't mean Hoof.

That's it.

I've hid in the S24Su bush too long watching like a peeping tom but I just can't help it, I've got to contribute somehow now.... I don't know what to say though !
Top of the league.
A manager that seems to know what he's doing.
Players that seem to care again.

I'm hoping if this form continues that come March time we'll be touching 24/25k a game.

I'm usually a pint half empty type of person and a half empty type of blade but for the last few month this has changed thanks to everything going on at BDTBL. A little devilish part of me still comes out every now and then where for a split second I think things such as "it'll go tits up at some point" or "were sufc this won't end well" but these thoughts soon stop. Happy 2017 Blades.[/QUOTE
You'll be talking shite in no time at all.............Welcome

For the assistance of any newcomers out there:

Pinchy's "tasks" were given to him by god when he climbed Mount Kinder to be given the stone tabernacles of the beautiful game. None of us peasants have ever seen these sacred tablets, so only Pinchy knows about the 'right way' and 'proper footballers'. Through him, we know that 'Hoof' is bad, Basset prehistoric and that everyone else on here is always wrong.

Occassionally he teases us with morsels of his great knowledge such as 'Done is a runaround' or 'Monty was crap'.

We all sit, jaws wide open and goggle eyed, awaiting more gems from the great prophet.

Not sure about the "little common sense" he mentioned, though.

I like muddy pitches. Simon Webster-esque long balls being chased all the way to the back of the oppo net.
Bob Booker actually epitomized good football.

To be fair, he does despise other people too.

Such as people with mental illnesses and victims of stadium disasters.

Also known to despise any of our young academy players if they haven't achieved world-beating greatness by age 17 or 18. Oh, and any supporter who wishes them well.

His list of things and people he hates isn't as long as yours though is it, and it's not as vindictive?

But the joy of Tyler's 'list' is that it is ever changing and so tastily up to date. He sees a target and shoots from the hip.

No need for considered views, he just puts the boot in. Usually very funnily IMHO.

Pinchy just does the broken record thing.

They are like chalk and cheese (except the Keith Edwards 'chalk on your boots' line is probably not 'proper football' and cheese may not be good either, in Land of the Pinch).

No, try as he might. Although in his defence he doesn't feel the need to challenge those who disagree with him to pistols at dawn or Queensbury Rules either.

Maybe you're the one person on this board who could learn something from him......

Grana Padano of course, not grotesque alehouse cheddar.

Your memory is seriously failing you, again.

Another newbie poster long-time lurker here, same motivation as the OP.

I only get to see teh Bleds three or four times a year so will confine my comments to stuff I know about: Sheffield pubs 1984-1990, psychotic former teaching staff at High Storrs, reasons to hate our neighbours and - er- how fookin' grate the Bassett years were. Nothing controversial there, right?
