A great performance today, a rock when we were wobbling in the first half. I've been a critic of his and we all know his limitations, but credit to him that's the second game in a row when he has been my man of the match.

Would you start him next weekend? for me no, defensive is strogner with Wright and can't really drop Fleck or Coutts

I would, you play the players who are on form. Also at Southend we will need to be solid.

Of course. We keep winning with him in the side. Why would we tweak for tweaking's sake?

For the first time in years, I am happy to leave it to the manager. His decision-making so far has been impressive.

Very true, what ever decision he makes I have confidence he'll make the right decision. Aynway its a good position to be in, having to debate dropping players cause everyones playing well and not cause they're shit

How do you work that out ?
Basham played 2 previous games 0 goals conceded, Wright plays goal conceded.
Coutts dropped today Basham plays we win.
Tough game next week away at Southend to you really think a Fleck and Coutts midfield would be better than Fleck/Bash.
Don't get me wrong I like Coutts and Wright and if this was a home game then I would agree Fleck/Coutts in midfield but I would still play Bash instead of Wright in defence at home.
Just think away from home at an inform Southend we could do with his defensive qualities and Height.

2 games thats it though, Defence always looks stronger with Wright at the back, talks to O'connell and EEL a lot better and they look far more solid, sure didn't keep clean sheet but not the defences fault they can't stop goals like that. And Fleck and Coutts is a far stronger midfield.

Ok maybe for Southend start Bash in midfield but for the majority of games I'd personally have him on the bench.

Also don't forget we haven't lost with Wright starting.

Then by your logic basham wouldn't have played midfield! So which is it don't change a winning team or change it like we did today? Have another think pal. Basham was probably man of the match so I agree with the comments above. Nobody was more than 7 out of ten today but nobody was less than 7 either. Basham is not better than Coutts or Fleck and will find himself further down the midfield pecking order next season when we sign more players. No room for sentimental feelings but prove me wrong Bash I would love him too.

Chris Basham is the new Michael Doyle.....
Apart from a couple of dodgy passes in the first half he was great today, really got stuck in and helped us recycle the ball quicker than the previous couple of games when we've looked a little lethargic!

Yep, our best player today along with Freeman.

He deserves so much more credit. He's reliable, brilliant at winning the ball and a much better footballer than he gets credit for.

EEL did a great job of showing us what Basham offers us at RCB as well.

I'll let Wilder make that tough choice!

Lets not get carried away here, he's solid in the tackle but that's about it. Offers absolutely nothing with the ball at his feet and Jake Wright showed him up as a centre half aswell today.

Disagree. Offers absolutely nothing is an overstatement, he may not be a Fleck/Coutts/Duffy in the footballer stakes but his qualities are an integral contribution to the team effort. His energy and ball winning qualities either at the back or midfield have been outstanding this season.
Wilder always finds a shirt for him which speaks volumes.

But....his touch is sometimes questionable and he lacks pace. He doesn't score goals and he does not have the qualities of coutts and fleck, he just doesn't. He is a hell of a better player than Doyle though. Mark my words he will not play in midfield in the championship

Basham outstanding today, fully agree about Basham being MOM.

But Fleck was excellent too: seemed right back to his best. And Lavery was really top class as well.

Ball winning qualities, are not qualities with the ball at your feet. More than once today he won it and gave it straight back. He is very good at winning the ball but we need more than that now.

Watching Basham and Scougall trying to create today was painful after what we have been watching from Coutts and Duffy, it showed just how thin our squad is, Bury were moving the ball through the midfield line time and time again with ease today and against a better team we would have been punished.

Amazing how differently we all see games. Me and jr have always been big Bash supporters, while acknowledging his shortcomings. Today, we saw some good tackling, but mostly thought he had a 'mare--from being caught in possession after about 5 seconds of the game onwards ...

Glad it sounds like we saw it wrong :)

You didn't

Fleck has been much better than Basham this season and that is undisputable. Where Bash has been slightly better today, Fleck has performed at that level and above all season. Much more consistent than Bash. Fact! (I think this is my catchphrase and that's a fact). Anywho don't get me wrong this is not a Bash Bashing so well done Chris we're sheff Utd we're top of the league FACT

Much better from Basham today than his usual displays, I was glad to see it. All the talk of him being man of the match against Northampton is bollocks however.

Aye well, we'll have to disagree on that. He gave it away a time or three but wasn't alone in that folly, Fleck was just as guilty in the first half, he's not at the top of his game at the moment.
And yes, a better team may well have punished us today, we were ordinary in lots of departments for 70% of the game but have developed the knack of finding a way to win.
