On GSS (Gillette Soccer Special) 1453 Mon 2nd, reference to he is 'only 23' for the 200 plus games he has played and Hull paid only £2.5m for him.

There are a few held responsible for why we always tend to get done over in transfer dealings. You'd think as directors they would know how to run a business....

grrrrr...

Its taken a while but he's started to hit some form at Hull, Hopefully gets a move in January for a bit of money

He's taken ages to establish himself, and I think that's partly down to the system Hull play at the moment.

I rate him, but £2.5m was decent money at the time. The fact we didn't replace him is our own fault.

We did replace him, with a hirsute full back now plying his trade at Burton. I don't know why either

We got 1 million for Mellis and he's shit
We got 1 million for Forte as well and he's wank

The club value players and in recent years they've held out until the value has been met. Just because 2-5 years later the same player is doing ok in the Premier League doesn't make it bad business.

Its how we've spent the money over the years where we've had bigger issues

Edit... And Mellis scores for Bury... :(

How much for Forte?

He was excellent last night.
he looked good against manure and that can only be good news for us raises his profile and as im sure hull will go down got to be interest from middle to lower prem teams im sure we have some sort of sell on clause in place

Jack O'Connell is a good player, but Harry was a different league for me. I'm just surprised it's taken him so long to get recognition at his current club.

Bruce seemed to always prefer the experienced pair of Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies. Which to be fair is a very good pairing for the Championship last season

It was always going to be difficult with Bruce's lad taking precedence for a while, and having some competition with Dawson & Davies. It was a strange move at the time but I think Harry will go from strength to strength now and it wouldn't surprise me if one of the big guns stepped in for him.

Soon as Dawson & Davies are fit Harry sadly will be back on the bench, enjoyed his dribble last night from his own area to theirs and getting a shot off, not bad for leadboots eh.;)

We could all see the promise in Harry, but we sold him as a third division player so it took a leap of faith for a Premier league club to be convinced he could jump up two divisions.

Had most of his games been in the Championship then we could have reasonably expected at least double.

Generally I think we have sold well with a couple of exceptions.

The 'buy one get one free' Walker/Naughton deal hurt us. £4 or £5m for KN was reasonable but KW had only played a handful of games and we should have held out. If we'd sold him the following year, Spurs couldn't have recalled him on the last day of the window and we should have got more than £5m for him.

Blackman was a poor sale. He wasn't brilliant and a lot of his goals were penalties, but he was the only one scoring. £500k for your leading scorer is poor business if you don't have something else lined up.

.

He's been excellent every time I've seen him play for Hull this season. I tipped him to play for England years ago, and have seen nothing to change my mind. As soon as the top clubs recognise he's an excellent ball playing centre half - he'll join one of them. If he was quicker it'd be Barca. There's a wider issue of a lack of quality centre backs(particularly English ones) that only increases the chances of this happening. Defenders are almost the new strikers in terms of cost see Luiz, Stones etc.

A slight amendment.

For young lad Harry wasn't the most mobile of players. He used to turn like battleship.

He might end up somewhere like Everton. They've got another one of our ex-players on the way out that needs replacing, after all.

I wanted more than £3m at the time, still do. He's worth more than that, let alone £2.5m. Because he was worth so much more to us that the shoddy replacement we brought in, knew we would bring in, failed so miserably to bring in after him. We needed and probably still do, more balls in the transfer market. £2.5m is utter peanuts for a player of Harry's quality.
