Just to be clear, this is NOT for rumours.

But IMHO this window has the potential to define our season and will be the most important JTW in many many years.

And this is both in terms of recruitment and player retention as I genuinely think it would be naive of all of us to not expect interest in our better players. And we now have at least 4 or 5 that could attract real interest from clubs in higher leagues. Which is a worry.

I trust Wilder and the board but if say a Championship club comes in with a seven figure sum for one of our key players with an offer to double / treble wages, it's bloody difficult given player "power" these days to do much about it. Not saying it's right just that's the way it is. The big (bigger) boys have done this since the dawn of time.

So given the balanced nature of the squad, I guess what I'm saying is, I'm worried things may transpire against us when we seem to be in such a good position.

Wish it was 1/2/17 !!!!!!!!

Happy New Year.

We've got nothing to worry about in terms of departures. Not in this window.

Ready to strike.
A midfield player, a wide player and one other.
But don't take my word for it:

I actually think that signing one more player who can do what Duffy does down the other flank would be every bit as lethal as signing another striker.

Agree that it could be a good alternative. Depends on the player. Ideally someone positionally flexible who scores goals. Maybe it's something we'll look at if we can't afford the strikers we want.

My worry is us selling Sharp.

Ain't gonna happen. Billy halved his wages to come here in the first place, he won't be swayed by anyone when we're halfway to promotion with his beloved club. Wilder won't sell, and not even the board will pressure him to do so this time round.

I'd like to see us sign a player similar to Nick Blackman. Obviously the man himself is out of our reach now but I just mean the kind of attributes he has are what we could do with.

I wish it was 1/2/17 as well. Then I wouldn't have to endure 31 days of the "sign Ched" bollocks that's about to commence.

Best post this year. It's like I said in one of the other JTW threads, I'm expecting one per day until that shouty Scottish dick downs tools at the end of the month.

Yeah but is he all that anyways?

That's a non starter imo.
Have you guys looked into our long history, you'll see its littered with loads of examples of how we've sold really good strikers in their prime to other clubs for bargain prices. The stattos could put together a long list I'm sure. So unless you chaps are ITK be prepared for anything. There's loads of money in the prem which means if they buy someone in the championship for many millions that team in the championship then has many millions and may be under pressure to spend a proportion of it. We are in the silly money era where anything goes.

Billy's vital to us in this promotion push
He only wants to play for us anyway
think matty taylor would be a perfect partner for billy looks tall strong pacey and scores goals at this level doubt brizzle would let him go though

Be that as it may, Billy would have to decide to leave. As a player who has gone on record as saying he would've been a one-club man all along had the circumstances been different, the likelihood of him leaving at a time like this, in a situation like this is as close to non-existent as it can get.
