Plus the older people who read it because they don't sit looking at their phone all day.

The Star is abysmal, in particular their use of social media, which is embarrassing. Aside from football, they post reactionary comments to news stories that would be befitting of the Daily Mail.

It is obvious they are massively elaborating on headlines to get clicks on their site, which is now laden with adverts.

The majority of the articles are badly written and full of spelling and grammatical errors. It is a total embarrassment for the main paper in a major city. The Telegraph is slightly better, but unfortunately, also owned by Johnstone Press.

Not sure I get the fury either, Rodders. Don't like it, don't read it. Same with RS, listen to something else. Mind you, local radio has never been the same since Roger Moffat packed it in.
Roger Moffat!!!!
Forgot about him SEB.
Thanks for the memory!!

Free local paper? Yes please! They're great for scrunching up and stuffing into wet cycling shoes after you've been riding in the rain. Dries them out super fast. Works on footy boots too! Tune in tomorrow for another great Tip Of The Day, folks.

Both the star and radio Sheffield have printed some outrageous headlines and articles about us over the last few years.

I wouldn't be sad if they went bust.

I don't listen to Radio Sheffield, purely as an objection to that wheezing little gob shite Toby jug Foster.I do buy the Star ,for the crossword ,Blades news and just to check the death columns in case my name's there (I am at an age when you never know)

Might well be, but when it's practically editorial policy to engage in biased shit-stirring against one of the citys football clubs, thereby alienating tens of thousands of people, I'm afraid my sympathy wears thin.

Print media is a dying format. People can obtain better information from a range of sources these days.

I really don't get why you think the Star is biased against the Blades I'm sure you will enlighten me.
I only read Friday edition for the local sports news I enjoy that.
I never missed the Green Un on Saturdays not just for the Blade stuff but if you played Sunday League and you scored the week before you couldn't wait to see your name in print.
The death of print will be a sad day they just doesn't seam to be the up and coming feature writers about wether football, cricket, fishing etc
Shame

If the Police get involved and charges made I'm sure it will make the front pages.

At the end of the day every club has its elements of scum so this is another sad example.

Its recent Hillsborough coverage didn't follow this line, sadly. Charges don't need to be made for coverage anyway.

But that has fuck all to to with this mindless attack.

The Hillsborough tragedy has fuck all to do with anything other than that. It was an horrendous incident that has nothing to do with us other than we should all be utterly saddened by it and not use it as a point scoring excercise against the pigs or the local paper.

So the condemnation of the conduct of Sheffield Wednesday is not a subject of interest for the local paper? Ok then. As for point scoring exercise...

I was merely pointing out that the mindless attack (alleged) on a man in Newcastle by a Pig fan has fuck all to do with the Hillsborough tragedy - that is a completely different topic

We're discussing bias, no? My point of view, shared by others, is there has been consistent bias in the way things are reported a or not reported by the Star, concerning United and Wednesday. The subjects are more or less irrelevant.

You might be discussing bias but I wasn't. You pointed out that because of some lack of proper reporting about the Hillsborough case it follows that an attack by a pig fan will also not be reported properly. I wasn't remotely discussing bias or Hillsborough

I was responding to your: "If the Police get involved and charges made I'm sure it will make the front pages". My point was if the Star gave meek reportage of Wednesday's involvement re Hillsborough, of all things - why expect different now. I could have mentioned the reportage of the dead Blade at the derby in '93, or the stream of racist incidents that are given small paragraphs on page fourty two. They would, perhaps, have been a more pertinent comparisons. The discussion of bias in the Star is an ongoing topic on this board.

Ok so the Star is biased

Haven't bought or read the star for years. I think the last time I actually held a copy was when I delivered them as a youth.

Truth be told, the Star and its equivalent in cities across the country are dying a death of a thousand cuts. Every day they become less relevant, trying to sell irrelevant stories to a consumer less and less interested in yesterdays or last weeks news.

None of us needs to do anything to hasten the decline, the sands of time are running low for printed media. :(

Hands up who buys as many newspapers now as they did two years ago?

I do, but not a local one for twenty-odd years
