Still waiting to hear a specific scenario where Ched's presence could negatively impact our results.....

That's because there isn't one mate and and one won't materialise either.
The Ched 'no goers' are still at it even though he has committed no crime.
I am 100% confident that he has learnt his lesson and is in fact no longer the sleaze bag that some folk love to label him.
Mistakes can be forgiven, just ask his partner and his family. If they can forgive him who see him and live with him every day then why can't people who see him once or twice a fortnight?

If CW sees it fit to bring him back then that is fine by me

In CW we trust :)

Do you really think the media give a fuck about a jury verdict?

It'd be the filthiest, most sordid fairytale ending in history and the news would be all over it.

Why risk bringing that kind of heat upon ourselves when we don't need to? The focus should be entirely on the football we're playing. Ched returning would distract from that.

If we were crying out for goals I'd be more up for it, but we're knocking 3 or 4 past teams.

The standard for automatic promotion looks to be high this season. Assuming we don't need to improve up front is daft. You can't rest on your laurels and be complacent when you're in a good position, we should know that better than anybody. We've had a few warning signs where we've struggled to break teams down.
Beyond that, we need to be looking at next season and Ched is one of very few strikers potentially good enough for the Championship who we could afford in January.

So what if the media would talk about Ched a bit? What they say isn't important. What they say won't change the football we're playing. Ched would only improve the football we're playing and make us a stronger team.

Well if he signs, in addition to him helping us achieve promotion, one thing that would be great to come out of it all, would be the fact that Chris Wilder could not give a fuck about anything other than improving the team in the most cost effective way.

He's an innocent man. Should be allowed to continue his career as a footballer. And I said the same prior to the retrial.

But, I don't want him at the Lane. Aside from him lacking the sharpness he had when he was last here, he was dogshit in the league above and if we go up, I see no reason why a lesser Ched will be better the last time we had him up there.

And, from a purely personal perspective, I cannot forgive him for a complete and utter lack of professionalism in his first stint at the club which cost us £3million and what should have been a straightforward promotion over our arch-rivals.

We talk about never going back to previous successes, we sure as shit shouldn't go back to previous mistakes.

Let him forge a career in the lower leagues. He's more than welcome to it.

Yes, Ched cheated on his girlfriend and that's obviously poor behaviour, but don't you have mates who have done the same? I have and I ain't going to stop being mates with them, it's up to them and their conscience.

If we only sign players of the highest moral standing, we'll be looking at a very small pool of players.

No I don't have mates that have done the same. There is also a big difference between cheating on your girlfriend and having a threesome with a mate after he calls you up saying he has a bird back in his hotel room, then sneaking out the fire exit! I just think the guy is a scumbag for it, like I would any man that thought that behaviour was acceptable. He may be innocent of a crime but still clearly not a nice bloke that would do such a thing.

I believe he is entitled to a career ofcourse, just don't like the guy for what he did. I won't be kicking up a fuss if we signed him, I'd just prefer not to have a guy like that playing for Blades. I also would prefer we didn't have the likes of: Joey Barton, Gary Madine or Peter Odemwingie. Not on football reasons, I just don't like them so would prefer they didn't play for us! You may not dislike Evans for what he did, which is why you want him to play for us. Absolutely fair enough. It's just too much for me to think of him in any other way than a bit of a scumbag really.

What I don't get is all of the Ched haters clinging on to the past for reasons not to sign him and then accusing the people who want to sign him of living in the past.
He would improve our team, he is within our budget, he did nothing illegal, get him signed!!!!!

At the moment we have Billy as the only striker weighing in with goals. Done does a great job in other ways and that is more than well enough covered on other threads. Lavery is an unknown,he may be a damp squib he may explode and score for fun, which leaves Clarke. I know his stats show he is a very good, prolific striker at this level, but absolutely nothing I've seen, heard or read about his Blades career so far suggests he is going to contribute much of anything.
Re-signing Ched is a no brainer as long as Wilder wants him and it isn't boardroom decision.
He has absolutely everything to prove and frankly, whatever the remainers put up as reasons not to sign him I would go so far as to say he would stick a reasonable bit on the gate and get the place jumping.
There are no issues regarding his past beyond people in glass houses throwing stones. He has been found to be an innocent man.
And before anyone comes out with some moral reason not to sign him don't bother. Morals and professional football do not co exist on any level.

Having seen the signings he has made and the notable difference with the squad, both on and off the pitch, in terms of togetherness, communication and cohesiveness, I think any signing Wilder makes is as much about character and fitting in as it is about ability on the pitch.

I haven't come across anyone, with the possible exception of Jean Chopper, who hates Ched. From where does this ridiculous misuse of language emanate? [I know. It's a rhetorical question...]

He will not cost a couple of million. Chesterfield will take the first bid that comes in January. They are in dire straits. It would be a nominal fee from any club that would land him I feel. Might be less than £100,000.
Apparantly Chessie have a year option on his contact so I suspect it would be more than 100K. If no one comes in to bale out Dave Allen i reckon he will go to a Championship for a at least treble that. Now if we offered Done or McNulty in exchange we might have a chance but I am concerned about his injury record this season

It is, but happily 'talent' also features very high on his list, leaving him in a tiny minority in S2....

One main worry is I have a feeling someone like Scunny or Bradford could sign him
He wont sign for Scunny . Bradford need someone to reignite their season but I don't think they will be able to afford him

I'd swap those two for him, even if his leg fell off...

You clearly knew it was simply a terminology used to differentiate between those wanting to resign Ched and those against it. Stop being so pedantic you dick

Like I said on another thread (or maybe this one) I heard from a decent source that £250k had been agreed but there was some hesitation (board split) on bringing him back. Just a rumour but a good source.

Definitely have to be able to play, but I believe a few of equal or better talent than what we have were overlooked due to not measuring up to the 'other' requirements. One thing I am confident of, Pinch, is that any coming in will only add to the talent quota. Wilder appears to know his onions!

Ched ran the show v us at chezzy before being subbed, if the deals right for us and chris wants him go get him.
unfinished business imo.

Really ? Must have seen a different game. He was ok but that was it

Yes you must have been at a different game to me as well fella, as i was shitting it every time he got the ball. He was their only threat but a bloody big one and i was chuffed to bits when he went off...and at the time it was only 1 - 1. Perhaps when he went off the defence who had been given a bit of a runaround probably pushed up and the goals then came.

Your entitled to your view but i cant agree that he wasnt a serious pain in the arse football wise on the day. He looked a very good div 1 player to me that day.

Him being at little Chezzy is fine. Low key club for someone who probably wants a low key return to professional life.

If he signs for us, there'll be another shitstorm. Simply because it's us. Fans won't want that, club won't want that, Ched won't want that.

Best if we all move on in my opinion.

There's no shit storm to be had, me old. Innocent man and professional footballer in return to his old side, that's it. Nobody has an issue to start a storm over, not even Jean Hatchet.

Yes, I will if you, in turn, improve your literary skills, Dom.

I responding to the post that said he had ' run the show' he clearly hadn't and we were the better side when he went off and looked like we would win the game.
