Just wondered what everyone thought, I know there a bits scattered allover the forum, but let's go for definitive numbers.
So, who would you rather start with Billy at the forefront of our attack?.............

My choice, although not firing on all cylinders has to be Done.
I just really don't rate or like Clarke, and I dont believe he and Sharp will ever work.

Whichever gives the best chance for the team to win, rather than however many goals the individual might score

Matty for me every time.

I saw Leon play a few times for Chesterfield. He scored 5 goals in his first 3 matches then more or less slept through the rest of his loan period. He had an eye for goal, to be sure, but he certainly didn't contribute in the all-action, selfless way that Matt Done does, and that's still the case now.

MD is a pest. I bet opposing defenders hate him.

......and its a Done from me! He does all the chasing and makes room for Billy. Given that Billy is the choice for striker....Done every time.

I honestly think Clarke is a better player than Done and WILL prove a lot of people wrong this season BUT Done gives you the graft and seems to compliment Sharp much better. Therefore Done for now but Wilder has to figure out how to get Clarke scoring.

Apologies for the annoying CAPITALISATION by the way.

Unfortunately, we are a Division Three team with Division Three 'Strikers' - I use the term very loosely as the returns do not suggest they are very potent with Sharp having scored 12, Done 2 and Clarke only 1 - Lavery has yet to score - Doesn't reflect Knill's comment about our strikers being the envy of all the other teams in the league.
My view is that Sharp is about at his level at Div 3, Done is suffering from last season and Adkins, Clarke is a lazy sod and there was a reason that Lavery couldn't hack it at Wednesday - he is simply not good enough !
A team can't win anything no matter how much more possession and shots per game than the opposition if our strikeforce couldn't hit a Cows Arse with a Banjo !
I attended a 'Night with Dave Bassett' last Saturday and he was asked about the current strikers against his strikers in the Third Division - Deane and Agana. His reply was that Deane and Agana scored 63 goals that season at an average of 1 goal every 1.5 games and both of them would score at least 1 in 3 attempts at goal - he couldn't see the current bunch getting anywhere near that ratio !

Deane and Agana better than done and Billy.......give over!

Evans and Sharp...

For now though I'd say Sharp and Lavery.

It's important we beat Swindon so I wouldn't risk starting with Clarke when there aren't enough signs of the partnership working. Done hasn't offered enough recently, especially in these games where we've dominated possession, as I expect to happen again on Saturday. In these games Lavery is more likely to make something happen, and he can do Sharp's running for him like Done does.

No brainer. Done and Sharp Done may not have scored but he's just a pain in he arse and as frustrating as he maybe he creates space for Sharp.it maybe an issue if when hey played together we didn't score but we were scoring for fun. Get em back together.

Clarke has been given a number of chances to prove himself from Kick off and has failed to do so. Only time he has performed is from the bench and even that has been rare.

Feel like I'm banging the Ched drum despite being against his return for a good while. I just think it's all set up for a return with either Clarke or hopefully Lavery heading to chesterfield on Loan.

Done because it has worked for the rest of the team if not for Done. I remember Mifsud being described as a Mosquito. A bloody pest that kept buzzing about. Nobody liked playing against him. Made a career of it. Yes we'd all like a second striker with a similar prolific strike rate to Billy, but we haven't got one, and that includes Lavery and Clarke.

Clarke because he's a striker and Done isn't. And those who are dismissing Clarke and Sharp - think again - they've hardly played together yet so it's far too early to judge that partnership.

I bet they love him because for al pestering - and I agree he's like a wasp at a picnic - he rarely scores - no sting see?

sharp - 85 minutes
done - 60 minutes
Clarke - 30 minutes
lavery- 5 minutes

That's how I'd split the time, all other things being equal. Use em all I say

Happy to go with Sharp and Done, but I'm not writing off Clarke and Lavery..Watching on TV,they weren't great by any means but they did link up a few times on Sunday and got close together and looked for each other,it just didn't quite happen like most things in the final but early days...Lavery looks like he could be a real threat in behind with his pace although Bolton looked to defend deep and it often looked congested and didn't leave much space..both need more game time...On another note,I don't think Hussey was that bad either..his crossing was poor, but he did OK in other aspects for me..if he could get the final ball right,he could possibly be a better option than Lafferty,as we need more threat from the left hand side.

Sharp and Done . It works .

Why CW changed it in the first place is fucking beyond me . Or is the first of the cracks in CW's tenure emerging ?

Some of us have thought

Sharp and Clarke - P7, D2, L5

It's an experiment that might take weeks to get right and they just don't look comfortable together.

They were miles apart v Walsall - Clarke winning the ball and Sharp either not reading it or not interested.

Personally I don't care who plays up top - how long do we wait and see if it works?

Of more interest to me is how we play in the last 18 yards of the pitch when teams sit back - as they now seem to be doing. We need a solution to that, more than who actually plays up top.

Normal service resumed Saturday Billy and Done

I sincerely hope so .

Just as an aside ..... All those after the return of ched Evans , and I'm certainly one of them , forget it , it's not happening . CW isn't interested but perhaps most importantly Ched himself is very firmly against it . He feels he was betrayed by the club after his release from prison .
