Seems about fair. Out of interest, did Bolton make many changes like we did? Don't know how they usually line up.

Encouraging given that we put out a weak team and some individual performances were the poorest I've seen all season.

We've played possibly the best team in the division twice now without our 'A team' and lost only narrowly on both occasions. That's a positive.

Hmmmm...

Wasn't expecting that with all the drivel that was coming out of them when the draw was made, never mind, Bolton in my opinion having seen them twice are my favourites to get top spot, very solid, big players all over the pitch and some teams will go there and lose in the dressing room as they used to do here when we first went down to L1..... plus they're lucky twats.. you need that..

If they don't make it up this season it's possible they will be here a long time because as we know once the better players have to be sold to cut costs then the fear factor goes and they'll become a scalp for visiting teams...

Coming from a team that are up there with us (and acknowledging West Yorks comment) probably the most encouraging 'View from..' we've had :)

Glad that it was again close with a weakened side, but one thing is for sure - for the return league fixture we need to dick on them with a relatively full-strength side, it'll be important in the psychological stakes.

According to radio sheff they had a full strength side out

And it sounded like they picked up some knocks

7 viewpoints.

Representative of the true number of Bolton fans there are?

Or blatant slacking on Roy's part?

You decide.
If I was Roy, I wouldn't have been arsed to do a view from. Were you very selective Roy? Pretty good comments on the whole.

Their view was about as close to mine as I've read since the game and lacking the post-match defeat doom and gloom prevalent on here.

In particular, they recognise the fact that we play good football without a cutting edge, whereas they will grind results out.

I also think the comment about Lavery is a decent one (and objective from a Trotter). There are plenty on here who've written him off, but I thought he grafted, showed a bit of invention and is worth more game time.

“I suspect week in week out Sheffield Utd will play ‘better’ than us but we have that knack of grinding out results. Fine lines. We could suffer with the wrong injury or loss of form or whatever. But right now we look like we have that beautiful knack of winning irrespective of how we play. Which is golden. I hope we hold onto it for as long as possible.”

  • I agree with this

Makes yesterday seem like a very solid performance then.
I think if you look at the side we put out, giving fringe players a run etc, it will have been more informative for Wilder and Knill than it wouldve been for Bolton.

I love the FA Cup, but i think the side Wilder put out was right. Keeps players interested and perhaps shows him which players need to go on loan etc.

I'd love to be in the 3rd round draw, dreaming of a cup run again (in (hopefully) a promotion season), but we came out of it yesterday having given it a go and trying to make a couple of comebacks... thankfully not forcing a replay which would've been a pain in the arse.

If there are positives these are them

There wasn't that talk that I found about the match itself. Stuff like "Good win" or "Madine was good" but on the whole most were talking about the next round. I agree the comments on the game itself are decent though and detailed. I didn't see the game as I was out yesterday and after reading some threads on here I concluded that it was fairly comfortable for Bolton but their fans had a different view which was interesting

We were all over them for the first twenty. Then I lost my stream and by the time I'd got it back they were taking control and then scored. Overall, we probably played the better football but they looked more dangerous in the final third.

Many thanks Roy. Hope you enjoyed your night in Manchester. Always look forward to 'View From....' this one in particular.

Haven't looked at their comments in August but I am sure they seemed to focus on our fans 'bigging' themselves up with the quantity we took over. This time, there may not be as many 'views' but they seemed more measured and I would read into it that they see us as a real threat.

I've every confidence that Wilder and Knill will have seen enough to get us back on track.

Why weirdo? bit fuckin odd I'll grant you but weirdo? mind you, yes you have a point, fuckin weirdo ;-)

Far from easy as I saw it Roy.
The possession stats tell the story most.
With a better final ball and/or finish, we would have won that game yesterday or at least got a draw.
We played some good stuff, particularly after Duffy came on.
Yes they are a strong, well organised side, but one or two key players out or a hiccup in the league and we could see them fall away for a few games again.
It will be interesting to see what happens after they next lose one.

I was wondering that. We played an under strength team so if their fans think that's "us", they're so far off the mark.
