Cheers Roy. Not dissimilar to the general consensus on here really. Sammon is shit, Che can be great but inconsistent, Diego looks great against other youngsters. Dimiao I can't really comment on I don't know much about his time here. The effort you go to with these posts is brilliant and very much appreciated, chapeau! Edit..and Murphy is a quality player!
 
Might be stating the obvious but none of those players would have ever played for us if we'd never dropped into League One.
 
After Dimaio's wonderful debut for us it's such a shame to see him struggling. But he's still doing infinitely better than Diego by virtue of the fact he plays grown up football.
 
All these things do is make me sad that someone somewhere at the Blades didn't see the poor players we were signing.

I think a lot of the problem was having that idiot Mal Brannigan as Chief Executive, we signed a lot of poor players on stupid money under this authority. I think it was clear that Connor Sammon was a done deal under Brannigan and Clough before Nigel Adkins came in, and i also think it was Brannigan who sanctioned that idiotic deal for Dean Hammond.

I'm involved in recruiting now and "no way" is a phrase I use quite often - it's a pity wilders predecessor couldn't have used it.

I think part of the problem was Wilders predecessor wielded way too much power, and he effectively allowed Clough to blow the entire budget on mediocre players. Just look at the deals for Higdon, Brayford and one or two others, Sammon would have been another one brought in by Clough and Brannigan, and we would have signed Steven Davies as well, and when Adkins came in, Brannigan authorised the signings of Edgar and Hammond. All of them on salaries that was way over-inflated.

I think McCabe took a look at the whole shebang in November time when we was well off the play off place, saw the wages, saw the players we had and sacked Brannigan, told Adkins to get rid of as many of the expensive, shite players as we could and put him on notice that he expected play offs or Adkins could sling his hook.

I got told last March by one well informed poster, and probably the most ITK one on here who doesn't give away much at all, that it was rumoured that Baptiste was a player brought in by McCabe, and then oddly enough this new technical committee came in to much ridicule with a blueprint for the future, and a few months later the wage bill has been slashed and the squad of players are totally different.

McCabe might not have made some great decisions in his time, but i think he saw what was going off last season, and was ruthless about it.
 
Diego turned 21 last month. Getting increasingly close to too old for just a promising youth player.
 
Nice to see Sammon getting plenty of positive reactions from the Hearts fans...not long before he's a hero with Hibees fans when they play them! :D

From what I heard Brannigan was told by Adkins to get Hammond at any cost and he spent a lot of time sorting a deal out. He was highly praised for doing the deal ,2 months later he was on his bike. Another career at Bramall lane fucked up be Adkins ? Its getting to be quite a list.

Here's the problem with this post....Brannigan was a chief executive. He was the go between board and manager. The negotiator, the businessman and operator of the club who was also an accountant by trade.
He did not at any time "sanction" or "authorise" the arrival of a single player. He was a paid employee and had no authority to spend money without board approval.

What he did was negotiate the transfer of players identified by the manager in advance of that transfer being sanctioned by the board. Don't forget the board HAD TO sanction EVERY transfer. That was the reason why transfers took so long to tie up. He was backwards and forwards all over the place meaning we took ages to try and tie up targets and in doing so missed numerous players. This often resulted in us getting second, third, fourth, fifth choice!! And as we missed targets we got more desperate, meaning the board also got more nervous as the pressure grew and then overpaid.

McCabe did NOT sack Brannigan far from it.....McCabe did in fact negotiate the severance of Brannigan several weeks after he was put on gardening leave and actually apologised....making it quite clear it was not his decision and was made by others.
What is more likely the truth is that Brannigan was ruffling feathers at board level....he was very well liked by staff at the club, players, and was making huge improvements in every aspect of business operations. But the model needed to change. We needed to tie up transfers much quicker in negotiations and streamline the whole process. Going to the full board to get authority for transfers took way too long, and had far to many variables to overcome such as little power struggles and ego's chipping in and have their interference rather than just looking at the numbers.
The best solution is to have the manager working with one person (or team) and identifying and negotiating the transfers themselves. And that is close to where we have gone.

As for budgets....we had been hampered for very long periods in this league by past regimes and their players. We were gradually moving on overpaid dross like Collins and Doyle....making do with very highly paid tossers like Baxter. And a shit manager like Adkins bringing in Hammond and others on premier league money! The player who he was adamant would finish the squad and get us up.....the board believed him and paid it! He paid with his job.

But blaming Brannigan is easier, and is what the club want us to do. The board (the biggest problem we have had for 10 years) are the issue. McCabe cannot be here, nor the prince. They rely on others to do the job they should be. Other men with minuscule amounts (by comparison) invested in shares compared to them who are left in charge feeling they rule the roost.
Hopefully one day we will see an owner...singular, that is hell bent on success, knows football and will get the club going up to match the potential of our club.

Saw him play on BT. Did OK. Hit a ridiculous cross field diagonal when he came on, straight to the player's feet and followed it with a run into the box, a move where they almost scored. Nothing as spectacular after that but tidy and part of the come back that lead to Lincoln snatching a late victory. Apparently the Lincoln manager had been tracking him for some time and was desperate to sign him because of his attitude.
 
Could the internet weirdo update us on how the draped sweater/lollipop combo is going down in Bradford city centre?
