It was Naughton who came in for Sun Jihai. But I agree Naughton wouldn't have got a sniff unless he got sent off because he was playing really well and was a cult hero.
To be fair to Deadman it was two footed and definitely a red.

Goal scoring opportunity is only a yellow if the referee considers it a legitimate attempt to win the ball. Since Lafferty's controlled it in the six yard box and their lad takes his back leg out from behind, I don't see how he can see it as anything but a professional foul and still a red.

From where I was sat, the first was a red for preventing a goal scoring opportunity (last man), and I thought it was harsh, but I am old school. Even the second, I thought was a good hard challenge, but I wasn't 5 yards away from the challenge like Deadman was.

Exactly that. He was directly behind our player so no chance of getting the ball. Red. If he'd gone in from the side and simply missed the ball then it could have been yellow as I understand the ruling.

The coutts challenge is as simple as......If the foot was planted then then was a broken Tib and Fib.....Been on the receiving end of similar and suffered that exact fate.

That area of the leg isn't designed to take an impact and no amount of muscle can defend from it.

Even if it is to be considered sloppy / mistimed then this doesn't detract from the fact that it is an extremely dangerous challenge and a straight red.

Yes I'd say he is despite him not being that great. His technique is to rip the back of the net off which occasionally results in misses. We haven't had a proper penalty taker since Nick Blackman.

Thank you all for pointing out the error of my ways, but as I said "from where I was sat". I didn't have the advantage of the side on view now shown and as I said "I wasn't five yards away" from the challenge. As someone who has had his leg broken by Carl the knobend centre half (yes mate I still remember your name 20 odd years on) going through my left leg whilst planted in the turf, I am fully aware of the danger of that type of tackle. Seems like it deserved a red and a kicking.
