Posted already waxing lyrical about this lad but thought he deserved his own thread today. Early season like so many others (including CW) doubts were cast but the improvement in the team has been immense none more so that John Fleck. Sharp in the tackle, can pass short and long, can run with the ball and as we've seen without success until today can hit a ball with incredible power. Bold prediction but I reckon he's going to a Blades hero for years to come, a real fans favourite that has the ability to progress through right to the Premiership.

Quiet start, but when he got into the game he ran the show. So chuffed he got a goal and will I reckon be the start of a run of goals.
I predicted 10....might get close. But it's his crossing and through balls that do most damage.

I wasn't wrong.

What a great time to get his first goal for us.

And he was superb overall in the second half.

Best passer of a ball we have had for a good while, good vision, gets assists, can shoot and tackle. Excellent buy.

A proper player who does all you could ask from a midfielder.......his displays suggest he will do well for us in the Championship, and of course, as we add more quality he'll respond to this. The amount of tracking back he does to read the danger and cut out attacks is nothing short of brilliance and unbelievable desire. He's really classy!

He's exactly what we've needed for a while, that's 7 assists in his last 7 I believe and a nice finish today. Loves a shot from outside the box which I'm a fan of, I'm sure he'll get more.

Another thing with Fleck - I'm pretty sure he's playing considerably better than he was for Coventry - and he was their player of the season. Comments from their fans weren't all that emphatic, certainly compared to what we're saying about him now. He really is playing at a very good level this season, and that brings me back to Wilder - he's getting the best out of him, using him in a way that doesn't restrict him at all. Fleck must be really enjoying it here. Long may it continue.

I know people were excited by his signing but when I was collecting view on him I was worried as the Coventry fans didnt seem to rate him as much as I thought. What a signing though, even better than we thought he would be

I don't want to take away from Billy's scoring form and some of his hold up play, but Fleck was all round the best player on the pitch today imo. He can pass, cross, shoot, and dictated the entire second half, and more than once killed the danger with a good challenge.

12th player to score for us this season, against 14 in all of last season. It will be interesting to see how many more notch one before the season's end.

Some potential candidates would be Coutts, Lavery, Wright, Whiteman, Brooks, O'Connell, Hussey and Ched ;-)

Struggled at first, because the ball was being hoofed over his head. Since we stopped that, he has inevitably become a top player for us. Can pass, score goals and tackle. Looks a cut above this league, tbh. Can't praise him enough.
