You're my kinda weirdo Roy ;)

Generally that's a grounded set of views from those who commented. There's clearly discontent with their ex-Wendy owner, but what did they expect, someone who'll suddenly increase their size to XXXL?

One very decent comment about us being realistic about ourselves, nice to read as I've never come across anyone on here who has the malady of pigitus where size is discussed. Reasonable set of opinions.

Ought to be re-named 'Pre-Match View From Half a Mile Away'
That's about as far as I had to go so my old eyes could focus on the f*****g thing!

Fairly reasonable opinions.

Still think this is a local derby because apart from the grunters, geographically it's the closest ground to ours, is it not?

Waiting now for someone to tell me that the New York Stadium is 0.01km closer..........

They've not sold out because it's on telly. That's the main reason. And Sunday is a special day in Chesterfield. It's a day of rest, which means getting up late, restricting any physical activity to cutting the grass or washing the Cortina, going to the pub and drinking loads of beer, coming home and eating Sunday lunch and falling asleep in your singlet on the sofa. It's a holy thing (the singlet and the Sunday).

Cheers Roy, ya fucking weirdo.

I find it odd when folks on other forums don't really get 'The View From...'. It's interesting to read about a game from the perspective of the opposition; what's difficult to understand about that?

Everythings difficult if you're one of the 'Mi'ducks' from Chesterfield. Ranks up there with Barnsley and Doncaster on the mutant scale.

Interestingly, in all the years I have been doing this, the only set of fans who seem confused to why I do it have been Barnsley, Donny and now Chesterfield fans. I can only imagine the internet speed is that slow round those parts that they think it takes me hours to compile .

We must not ignore the have nots in our society.

Cheers Roy :)

Oh the irony of being called a Weirdo by someone from Chesterfield. Last time I went there I'd thought I'd walked onto the set of The Goonies or something.

Ha ha, weirdo Roy.......that's from a bunch of fans who can't even get the day of the game right.

Interesting too that they thought Tommy Lee was wrongly sent off in the 3-2 defeat, with no mention of the fact that we only had 10 for most of that game, after Higdon's dismissal as their bloke flapped and rolled around on the floor like a landed fish.

“Y’know, I remember the 1989/90 season, which began badly and went downhill from there.
But even though we were ultimately relegated we did a memorable double over the Blunts.
Hope, there’s always hope.”

I wonder if they put up a statue about it? Or put a star above that silly bent church badge on the shirts to mark that momentous occasion?
