Parking at B&Q

Street parking? I've done that for every home match I've attended for 20+ years.
Me to. point being there is not enough because of the council limiting it.
Now if they had a sensible approach and ticketed people who blatantly caused a hazard or obstruction that would work. They don't though. They ticket everyone who may have parked with reasoned care and are not causing any obstruction but have technically infringed.

I'm no great lover of parking companies or their tactics, but there is plenty of street parking if you are willing to walk a bit, or just use one of the pay ones?

Something about owning a car that comes with an inflated sense of entitlement, especially at School run time.
I thought that was more to do with the inflated sense of entitlement that comes with having kids.

Good shout, that too. They usually post EVERYTHING their kids do on fucking Facebook or something "look everyone, I dressed up our poor fucking Dog as a Pumpkin, aren't I awesome?" They'd be front of the queue for the Wicker Man I'd like to build.

I've got a sense of entitlement that Brownie Jnr deserves the best childhood he can possibly have, and if we are doing something enjoyable together then I like to share it amongst our friends and family on social media.

I also use the car for the school run.

Does that put me at the front of the queue for Wicker Man?

No mate, I know you so you have an exemption :)

The problem I have with the school run is not the parking as such, just the people that will just park anywhere. It's horrendous trying to get out of our drive in a morning with cars on all sides, and twats speeding down the road too. Both myself and the Mrs have had many near misses. All I'm asking is some consideration, this isn't always showing and is where my "sense of entitlement" opinion kicks in.

Lastly, most of the stuff I write is just rants from a bitter old twat whos had enough, I hope you don't get too bent out of shape by them. I apologise for any offence*

Unless you are Piers Morgan, if so then enjoy the Fed Ex'd Catshit ;)

Obviously boo radley would that is why these sharks exist. I really don't get people who seem to think they can do whatever they want and then rooer like fuck when they get pulled.
Hold on a minute. I've never got any private parking fines if that is what you are implying?
Well actually I have, one , at Abington services Scottish Borders. For s leaping in my car. They would rather chuck you back on the road tired of course. Becoming a risk to other road users as well as yourself.
I opened the letter incidentally and got straight on to the service station manager pointing out how many times I have used their facilities including meals I've had.
They cancelled the ticket.
I have challenged council ones before and never lost the ones I have Challenged.

There's loads of places to park legally within 5-10 minutes of the ground if you know where to look. Fucked if I'm telling you though, you're not nicking my spot!

The post about parking outside the mosque is a good shout though. You could murder someone around there and it would be a week before any kind of officialdom plucked the courage up to go round and investigate.

We need Parking fines , to stop Terry Curran types living on private land .
I parked in Waitrose before a Sheffield Derby match. All 4 of us got out the car with the red and white scarves on. A parking attendant approached us. He said " it's alright- I'm only after them in blue and white".

Top man!

Why wouldn't officialdom have the courage and to go round and investigate?

The advice *USED* to be to ignore them, but these days Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act (2012) allows transfer of liability to the Registered Keeper.

If they've followed a strict set of guidelines, which is unlikely. They also can't just go after the keeper if they can't prove he/she was driving. They'll try, quoting a bullshit Elliott v Loake test case which offered irrefutable evidence of who was driving. The burden of proof is on them to prove who was driving and they mostly can't do that, no matter what POFA says.

Anyone who doesnt want a CCJ on their record pays them.

My mate worked at Tesco at Barclay precinct and he got loads that he ignored, ended up in court and lost, hes in the middle of paying the £2000 the court fined him and now theyve issued proceedings to do him for another £19000. For the record, he never responded to any of them and followed all the 'rules' but they most certainly can get you now so Id be careful ignoring them

We might know each other. How do you know him?

He was tapping me up for legal advice as recently as August when he was on about the other £19k.

On what basis do you think they can’t when it’s enshrined in statute that they can?

This is the type of thing that is infuriating. No consideration for others wanting to park on match days (or nights). If once you get in your car and it is suddenly five times the length for you, YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD.

Hes a good mate, Ive known him for years. We play golf together a lot. He used to think all the parking tickets were quite funny until the court summons arrived. Feel for him now though having been got and fined and thought it was all put to bed only to have them come back for more. Think he stands a better chance this time round now though, at least of getting it down to a more reasonable level as I think he has got some proper legal advice this time, not from you is it?

This drives me mad, everyone on my rd parks 9/10ths of a car length away from the next car, luckily our neighbours dont drive otherwise Id never have anywhere to park

Winds me up too but if you've got a short car and you park in a space where a long car has been, it makes you look a twat when there's nothing you can do.

yeah I get that, but this isnt what happens on my rd, they either intentionally park like nobs or are just completely ignorant of others. I have seen someone park in a space at a supermarket between 2 cars but completely over the line. When I came back the 2 cars had left leaving this guy looking like he was a careless parker when actually it was the other 2 that were twats

Also you might park just fine, but then everyone around you comes and goes leaving you looking like the dozy chuff.

At least that's my story....

No, it's a bit outside of my expertise. The only advice he's had from me is in the pub and has all been pretty vague.

** EDIT **
just re-read what you wrote, and it seems you're agreeing with everything I wrote below

** END OF EDIT **

Schedule 4 of POFA2012 allows transfer of liability to the Registered Keeper (name on the V5) provided certain timescales and conditions are met. PPCs try E-v-L when they want to go after the RK on the presumption the RK was the driver, so they don't have to use POFA Schedule 4 and thus get around the fact most of them are hopelessly incompetent morons who can't manage to follow a *VERY VERY* simple set of rules that would, totally legally, allow them to reclaim the charge from the RK in lieu of the driver.

http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/keeper-liability/

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...file/9155/guidance-unpaid-parking-charges.pdf

Where you are correct is that if they don't follow the guidelines (most don't) then they can ONLY recover the charges from the driver, which is where E-v-L comes in (or doesn't, as that was a criminal case with forensic evidence. Henry Greenslade, ex-Lead Assessor for POPLA, was very clear that there is no presumption the RK was the driver in private parking incidents. This isn't an RTA S142 offence, so it's not like they can compel the naming of the driver, as much as they might think they can.)
