There's no reason it should be under 20,000, but I think it will be. I think a lot of the floating supporters are unaware of the extent of the turnaround, it's not simply a good run of form. If we struggle for 20,000 tomorrow I'd expect us to struggle for 20,000 for the rest of the season. Until any massive occasion, which they'll all turn up for.

Be careful in respect of how you use that word in relation to crowds, 80,000000 might have something else to saw about it.

I saw you comments to seanbeenstattoo derf, so I know you mentioned this 'true blade' nonsense with your tongue in cheek. But it's worth raising the point that there are many Blades who are unable to attend home games, some through living too far away, some through working anti-social hours, and others, like myself, who, because of health and mobility issues, struggle to get to games. In part I'm fearful of being in a large crowd that is unaware of my presence and I find myself pushed and shoved to the point where I fall over and cut my legs, something that can cause further infection resulting in lengthy stays in hospital, so I hope that description helps in understanding that we're no less passionate, no less dedicated, just unable, for one reason or another, to get to games the way we'd love to. I try to get to half-a-dozen games each season, it's a bind but I manage somehow.........I only mention this to demonstrate the variety of issues that prevent many of us from attending. Having said all that, what a season.....so far UTB

I'm under an excellent surgeon. It's a long story but the last few years have seen childhood injuries have acelerated to the point where I had three options, having the left leg amputated above the knee being one of them. I'm soon to have surgery that's intended to lessen the pain in my left foot as well as enable me to walk easier.......time will tell Jb60, thing is I'm of an age where I don't want to spend much more time in hospital, but if the surgeon can help then I'll give it one more chance to see if he's as good as his word. As I wrote, my dedication to the Blades has never wavered through thick or thin, I guess that's how it is when you support a club, you're in for life and have no say whether it's fair weather or foul.

The best season I can recall was in the old 4th Division, me and some mates followed the club all over, just the sort of adventure that leaves it's mark for the rest of your life. The one thing about following the Blade is that we're seasoned supporters who have seen our club do spectacularly badly for decades. Of course there have been moments to relish, but they've been far too few, at least in my view. I know nothing is ours of a right, but I'd have enjoyed spending more time amongst some of the better teams, if only to see the better players, some of who might even have signed for us. One thing about our current plight, if we can attract 18-20K to each home game in Division 1, when we're promoted (note the optimism) we'll begin to attract more fans, maybe not in massive numbers (couldn't help that) but enough to increase our appeal and enable us to, first, make the necessary adjustments to compete at a higher level of football, and secondly, continue to recruit players who'll take the Blades forward. Not a complicated answer to the years of deprivation we've suffered, but one that I know all Blades would savour. UTB

Well i'm a student at the University of Sheffield, so normally just pick up tickets from the SU box office as they're cheap at only £7, i've been doing this for around three years now and today is the first time ever that the box office has sold out of them.

Now you've gone and done it.
If we do get over 20k the S6 scrubbers will be saying "it only cost £7, If we charged £7 we would fill Hillsborough 5 times over".

I judge the crowd on where I get a seat when I book my tickets on a Thursday or Friday before the game. Not because I am not as bigger blade as some but because I am disorganised and my knobhead mate never lets me know If he is coming to the game or not..

Anyway - I have got to sit at least 15 seats to the right of where I normally sit and that is a good sign for the crowd (approx. 20,148 +/- 3) but bad for me because I have got to sit at least 15 seats from where I want to sit.

Come on ticket office, get it sorted, this would not happen at West Ham.

No Jonboy , earlier than that in the 4th division season ,
We went on there end , as on most ends that season , and it came on top right at the end .
We won 1-0 and Blackpools ground was a shit hole back then , we got put on there side end , then all marched into the middle of there Kop , we got beside a fence so they couldn't come at us from the side , and at the final whistle came at us from the front .
A Blade got stabbed , and we all went bananas, chasing them all over the shop ,
I got my collar felt , but said I could identify the fucker involved so got off with the charge , and me and Neuschwanstein spent the rest of the night , travelling around Blackpool getting beer bought us by the police in search of said knifeman , we couldn't see him so got put onto the "boys " coach .
On the way home the police stopped the coach took N off the coach , but left me on it as I said I couldn't be sure I could I D the lad .
Other than that fuckall happened that day.

Correct. I was stood on the terrace directly in front of them. Initially i thought they hadn't brought any fans, actually there were a couple on the Bramall Lane end, and if I remember correctly they scored first and it erupted in the private boxes behind us. We gave them some right stick when we equalised. Apparently the club felt sorry for them and the first 100 or so that turned up were put in the Private Boxes. Ahhh

He felt it was bang out of order. I remember their goalkeeper was a bit of a character " Sir Harry Thompson" who kept blowing kisses to the crowd throughout the match, he'd have been booked for doing it in this sanitised age. All the Blades support seemed to be hooligans, apart from me of course

It was back in the 81-82 season, inside the ground as the full time whistle went, fighting broke out on their end between Blades and Blackpool fans, one of their lads pulled out a knife and stabbed the lad next to me. Then they all did a runner. The lad who got stabbed was taken to hospital and I did hear he recovered OK. Never knew who he was. Word of what happened to the United fan quickly spread, and it all turned really nasty outside the ground.
