He sounds like a firm of solicitors.

He sounds like he likes his cash.

MM only bad signing, but I suppose he wasn't to know he was more interested in his pay packet than football.
Classic example of a player getting to a point in their career then thinking they no longer have to work at it.
Shame he could've been a real quality player, hope he learns from this but with his quote of "once the transfer window closes I will be in a better position to resume my career" (once teams can't sign a loan or buy a player they will offer me better money to join) dosent seem like he has.

But there all here, was just wondering who pre sufc, so Oxford/Northampton.

There was O'Toole at Northampton who previously went off the rails a bit, and Ricky Holmes played by far the best football of his career last season in his late twenties.

didnt adam smith go off the rails until wilder turned him round

Poor on paper, can't say I can recall seeing him play. Only CW can decide if he can do a job for the team. Another 5'-8" player but if he's got pace has he got an end product to deliver a cross. JCR was a pacey exciting winger but didn't have a delivery.

To many players becoming bench warmers for my comfort Hussy, Clarke, fleck....

Just because they're on the bench it doesn't mean they're benchwarmers. We've won 4 on the spin; why would you take someone off the bench to disrupt a successful first 11? Using Fleck as an example, he was doing fine, got injured and in his absence the team started to perform. It'll take a dip in form for him to regain his place.

Ability in reserve is an incredible luxury and something that few clubs at this level have.

He was awesome when he first left Man Utd to go to Hull. Think his career took a bad turn. Donny fans seem to rate him highly.

Someone on here said he did his ACL so that's a no from me. Very few players get back to their best following that injury and the last thing we need is injury prone players...which leads me to Lavery, anyone know how serious his injury was yesterday ?

Ok I accept fleck is a bad example but everyone seems to think hussy was a bad buy and Clarke 'appears' to be struggling to fit in.

Andy Giddings just tweeted me back re Stewart. He's still under consideration and is likely to play another match with us on Thursday.

I'm 50/50 with this potential signing.

Recent past has left it's mark meaning I'm wary of signings like this being just another drain on resources and/or blocking an academy player's route to the first team.

However, if he's healthy and strong and we can help him regain his form and confidence, it could be an excellent signing (assuming for a minute he does enough on trial).

I'm almost entirely pleased with CW signings so far, so if he does sign I'll certainly back him to be a success.

Probably plenty good enough for this league.
I said the same regarding Burke, offer them a season long contract at say 2k a week,it's two grand a week that they would never had .
If he wants to play football that badly,he'd take a short term deal.
Best of both worlds,he proves himself to us,or if his he doesn't,he's gone at the end of the season.

But that's only 100 grand a year. How on earth can he manage on that?

I still think Clarke has a major contribution to make. If Sharp gets injured, or plays poor, or if we need more aerial power during a game, he's the obvious choice. I think he's missed a few sitters and with Done in good form he's down the pecking order a bit but that can change very quickly and he's still a very good player at this level. I expect he'll be good for 12-15 goals for us this season.

I suspect he may lose his place to Ched though from January onwards.

What makes you think Clarke is a Bench warmer he was 1st choice until he got this niggling ankle injury, when he's fully fit I expect him to push for a place again.Hopefully he will be a bench warmer when fit that would mean the present set up is keeping him out we would have to be scoring goals and winning
matches for that to be the case ,hopefully that will be the situation.

Anyone know how the lad played today? judging by the 3-0 defeat i'm thinking probably not well? I would like to be wrong though.

I don't think that either of the free agents played today. Our youngsters were beaten by older, physically stronger opposition. The goals came through electric pace from their lads including an og from our motm centre half, desperately trying to clear a cross that had beaten Long.

The game was literally men versus boys with a lot of what I suspect were under 18 players in our team

I thought he was a bench warmer because Wilder seemed to prefer the pace of Done with Sharp to stretch defences. I thought the injury was minor and not the real reason. It looks like I'm wrong about that - but I think if a player is injured he shouldn't be on the bench.

Let's hope you're right because unlike some/most on here I've liked what I've seen of Clarke and think he will be key for us this season - question is who to play him with?
