Or rather in SUFC's case lack of AMBITION.

How can this be ? Sheffield 4th largest city in England great catchment area to attract fans from yet SUFC show no AMBITION.

Beats me.................

Great to see BT score at Ipshit.......... guess he'll go back to sleep now til end of season when he dissapears.

I would normally say something else than what I'm going to say but...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You do make me larf!

Never had and never will have any ambition, only a board with short arms and deep pockets

is there any particular reason you are on the wind up?

In the other thread you slagged McCabe off for wanting to become a top european club as it could "never be accomplished".

Yet you start a new thread complaining of a lack of ambition.

Make your mind up!

Just how should we have shown more ambition?

I've given up getting an answer to my questions, I guess i'll have to make my own mind up whether thats because i'm "out of my depth" or just because you have no answers to back up your statements :)

Words defy me.

Actually, they don't.

This is precisely the reason why I'm going non-league next year. Unless £100 billion gets spent, the club has no ambition. You wazzock.

As I've said before, there have been times when I couldn't envisage £50 in my wallet, let alone £50m. I love the Blades, and have been through some huge ups and downs, but when I hear people complaining after we've been talking telephone number transfer fees and wages, it makes me angry. It's not that long since when Harry had to go to his own bank account to buy Brian Gayle.

If you're that bothered, use your own millions and millions to pour into the club. Oh, you can't, because like all of us, you haven't got them.

We've won fuck all since 1925, and the chances of much happening soon are remote, but one thing. Please.

Don't let's use this season as a way of having a go at the best head honcho we've had in living memory.

Had it not been for him, we'd have been swept away years ago.

Don't get drawn in by him HH.

I may even join you at a few of the non league games.

:)

What is ambition ? is it making millions for SUFC or making millions out of SUFC fucked if i can work it out

So please tell us where these millions are made??

Wouldn't McCabe just stick to what he knows works?

If we (Sheff Utd or the brand) are so crap surely the "product" is now worth much less??

A good point arose from the passing of a great man today.

I really don't understand people with a "passion" for football coupled with a win at all costs every week without fail attitude. Or those who stop going/hound people out if they don't perform like perfect robots routine.

The good chap who passed away today was dealt more crap than you could ever imagine in the game of football, he was in a position to be able to have his pick of high profile games to view in comfort... yet he'd still stubburnly struggle through illness/disability on his tod to watch all levels of football in the park. He'd stand for hours in the cold/rain/snow watching sunday league, the junior leagues and even kids just having a random knockabout between friends.

Thats a passion for true football, thats what footballs all about!
Not paying Johnny Foreigner or the latest young mr fancy dan prancing about on £100k a week, battering teams week in week out.

Easy................ making millions out of SUFC

I've already asked you a few times just how he's doing that and how he'd manage it. You choose to ignore it though.

but when I hear people complaining after we've been talking telephone number transfer fees and wages, it makes me angry.

makes me angry too............... our Gert could have bought better players..
what a load of crap Floppo brought in and 'our terry' and McCabe watched him, make no mistake were in another relegation battle this season.

Ambition means a strong desire for advancement.

So McCabe doesn't have this??

It doesn't mean spending millions on players.

:)

Too right Foxy, it's is extremely rare that you will find a man or woman who will do whatever he can just to watch a game of football, whether it be professional or amateur, those guys I can respect. I know a few people like that, the guy I go home on the bus with and an old family friend, he does any given job for the blades, programme selling, handing out leaflets, and he certainly is not the richest of men, every bit of spare change he has goes on the Blades. Guys like Ronaldo don't seem to have any passion, more of an eagerness to show off what new tricks he has learnt so he can collect a larger pay check at the end of the week, and go home to his massive house in his lovely Ferrari...playboys

I know they came on free transfers but dross like Hendrie, Speed and Ugo will take a million pounds each out of SUFC every season, the great train robbers got life for stealing a similar amount.

So what do you suggest with this "ambition"??

We only pay a lot less??

Go with the youngsters.......long term approach??

Make your mind up.

1. an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment: Too much ambition caused him to be disliked by his colleagues.
2. the object, state, or result desired or sought after: The crown was his ambition.
3. desire for work or activity; energy: I awoke feeling tired and utterly lacking in ambition.
–verb (used with object)
4. to seek after earnestly; aspire to.

So we don't want achievement or distinction?
We don't seek results?

Perhaps Mr McCabe has more ambition than you give him credit for or realise then...

Because one of these is a vastly experienced Premiership midfielder with a plethora of contacts within the top levels of the game. The very same person wishes to shortly become a coach/work towards becoming a manager and can still offer quality on the pitch. A future blades manager in the making?

I'll give you a big clue as to which one he is.... he was the one helping Tongey massively on tuesday night both in terms of taking off the burden by running the midfield and constantly seen to be showing Tongey where to go/suggesting what he should be doing and in general helping his game. This happened to the extent of many suggesting Tonge was the man of the match.

- Persuing a court case into our footballing future trying to retain our PL status is lacking ambition?
- Spending 4million on a PL striker (breaking our record transfer fee)?
- Planning to develop the ground to increase capacity in view of 2018 World Cup?
- Improving our facilities and brand 'SUFC'?
- Investing oversees and creating international contacts?

Anymore wind-ups Beighton?

He's here all day lads! :D

Not doubting that. We all loved Sornob, didn't we? This season has been a cock up, and nobody can doubt it, but King Kev I has ambition for the club. The failings of a shocking manager can't be a description of the ambition of the club.

mmmmm, what can one constructively add, well lets have a go. Some of us remember those good old days when we had a dilapidated stadium with three sides, great view of a depressed declining city centre though. When we were mcuh closer to the bottom of the great footballing pyramid than we are today, when our players used to have to clean the dog mess of the training pitch everyday before training could begin in the public park. I could go on. One man has been able to realise what most of us dreamed of, a stadium to be proud of, training ground owned by the club. A squad of players we would only dream of. The missing bit is the squad arent playing as a team, if this bit gets sorted, and I genuinly believe Blackwell has the ability to mend the mess left by his predecessor, then we will realise all of our ambitions.

I'm left totally bewildered!!

What would the great discerning 'voice of the people of BDTBL' have made of the days of bumping along near the bottom of the old 3rd division and then eventually dropping into the old 4th division? Crowds of 11,000 and less in a stadium that was looking frankly worse than Swillsboro did just after the flood? A board that didn't just lack ambition but positively avoided it at all costs and sold any player that looked half-decent for half his value just to make a few quick quid? No facilities whatsoever in terms of training ground or academy?

Most of the above that now happen are the result of the current regime and Kevin McCabe in particular. He may not have dragged us up from the lower divisions, but he did replace the abject defeatism that landed us there in the first place and always threatened to return us there. We had no infrastructure and underlying plan of action to lift us out of that mire of mediocrity, but foreign investment, hotels, diversity of income streams and all the other things that he's introduced have made the club one of THE BEST run in the country. We now have the ability to invest in the team, something unheard of for the whole of my time following The Blades (35 years), so maybe the last manager didn't quite cut it (don't you love understatement!) but the base is now in place to launch the club to realms never before within reach. On the field events may not yet match the rhetoric, but don't let that detract from what has been achieved and planned off the field.

To paraphrase the Python's, " A £4m forward? Bloody luxury!! In my day we 'ad to mek do with Duggie Brown!!!"

Too many big words there SEB, for some of the posters in this thread, I'm afraid.

:D
