My uncle Ronnie wearing the CO outfit and Herman (later known as Little Herman as there was another fan nicknamed Herman who was then known as Big Herman) wearing the Leatherface mask

Herman?

I know that name. Wasn't he a face in the old Shoreham Republican Army?

Whats with the yellow scarf with black stripes, was it an away scarf?

Cheers silent. I didn't know people wore scarves etc that matched the away kit in the 70's. Thought it was a modern money spinner.

We went on the train special to that game it pulled in at New St had a right ruck with West Brom.
Bent Nose Mitchell took over the bar on the train just serving anybody.
Not seen Mitch for 20 or more years......is he still around?

Yeah , he still go's to the Lane . Most of the old Barmy Army still go .... although one or two of em struggle to make it out of the ale house for the match !

In fact a very prominent member of the old Barmy Army posts from time to time on here .

P.S I know your Uncle Ron well indeed silent . Anybody wanting a good and very funny walk down memory lane could do far worse than sharing a beer with him on a Saturday afternoon .

Yes hes still around ,saw him not long ago in town where the Three Tuns used to be , You can take the shark out of basking :)

Scarves tied like a neck tie
You don't see that much these days.
Also used to see silk versions of scarves, which were tied around wrists. They went out of fashion yonks ago. Before the 80s stared, I think

Was big Herman also known as 'Pod', Real name John?

Little Herman still goes to Lane, see him often after matches and we usually walk back to where I park near his house.
We were mates at school from 5 to 15 and in the same crew knocking around streets of Heeley.

Think he sits in near me on John St ? Does he go with his daughters ?

I was supposed to be on that train with a few others (I was the kid of the group, about 13 ) but we missed it. :(
We went down on an early coach - Derby fans throwing bricks at the windows from a field off the A38 at about 9am!!
Bumped into Ronnie at one of the services going down....certainly looked the part!
Arrived for 11.30 and straight into a boozer....lovely sunny day with loads of Blades out basking in the sun..
Heavy defeat to finish another dismal season off if I remember correctly.
We all seemed to accumulate a loads of annoying bells too...

I spoke to Mitch at ht on the kop at either the Gillingham or Oxford game.
