...So far this season we have played in Red & White stripes during every game. Last season we seemed to wear green away from home whether it clashed or not (in August we played Gills and Posh, red doesn't clash with blue).

This season however, we have reverted to changing the shorts and/or socks in order to play in our home strip. We could've played in our away kit in any of the away games so far but chose(!?!) Not too.

So, is this a CW thing? Many blades say we should wear stripes unless we clash, others say that an "away kit" should be just that; a kit we play in away from home.

Looking at the fixtures, we won't see Black/Orange until early October vs. Fleetwood.. Have we ever got through August and September using only our home kit ever before??

An away kit should be an away kit, and if it's not that then frankly it's a mis representation and unfair on those who purchased it. I suspect there'd be quite a few that'd be pretty pissed off come the end of the season having shelled out for however many shirts, and the side have hardly even worn it. If it's not going to be an away kit, I'd prefer they specified that and called it a "clash kit" or similar, so people can make more informed choices on whether to buy it or not in future.

I'm all for the classic red and white and only changing when there's a clash. It was only in the 70s that teams started wearing their change kits away whether there was a clash or not. I think L**ds started it when they got their new Admiral yellow change kits in.

However, we've got away kits to shift as well so they'll probably be coming out of the cupboard quite a few times especially leading up to Christmas.

The away kit will be for games like Fleetwood Bradford and Northampton who all have home kits similar to ours

One of my pet hates in football is teams wearing away kits unnecessarily. Particular examples that irked me were Coventry playing in red shirts and white shorts at Bramall Lane last season and Arsenal wearing black and yellow at Watford last week.
That was pathetic the Arsenal game. All that hideous yellow from two kits instead of just one. Actual colour clash caused by Arsenal not wearing red n white.

We are the red and white wizzzzaaaaarrrddsss.

Come on you fluorescent yellow/orange/ green luminous wizards does not have the same ring to it.

Mind you, whilst very pleased with the result yesterday and the increasing solidity of the team, we don't have that many wizards in our ranks. Tend to get kicked out of or sold on in this Division!

I thought us playing in the white shorts was a curse for our season. But then we got the win and now i've having second thoughts about it

We'll play in Red vs. Bradford, have done before. Could do vs Northampton too. Fleetwood will be the 1st time we wear black.

The referee can also dictate what we play in. If they think Red/White clashes with Burgundy/Mustard, we'll play in black at Valley Parade

Do we have different sponsors on the away kit? If so I would think they would be pretty pissed off if we never played in it

should our tie ups only be red
this has been on my mind for some time
weve probably been using white , which doesnt define us as its in a lot of kits
whereas red tie ups , game changing

I think the away kit is pretty hideous to be honest. Not so much the shirt, but when paired with orange shorts it's a bloody eyesore. All black would've been preferable.

I could imagine you in all black. Yes that would fit. ;)

People did tell you that white kit was crap...

I have never spoken to a football fan who has purchased an away shirt and then be horrified to find the home shirt used away from home. Surely everyone knows this?

We should definitely wear red and white whenever possible. Away shirt should only be used if we're playing another team in red away from home.

when I refereed I remember turning up at Mather Road and both team usually wore red white stripes , and due to a mix up both turned up in their 2nd strip , both were all white
unusually it was the only game played there that day so there was no alternatives
I agreed to try and ref the game as one white strip had red collars and cuffs , the socks were no help as as usual there was the usual eclectic mix of white red yellow and blue socks
but we got through it , somehow , but there were very few offsides

That happened to us at goals a bit back. Played a team in orange (same as us).. 7wks later the fixture came round again so I told everyone to wear black as we clashed last time.. They wore black too, obviously had same idea
