Pete, I've not even got stuck into the Adkins section of my told you so pile yet.

I was waiting for you to come back on so I could get started and go through them all with you.

Knock yourself out armchair.

There's still a few holes in that 'sold your season ticket' bullshit I haven't poked out yet.

Can`t remember a worse showing than Duffys attempts to hit a cows arse with a paddle today in a very long time.

Agree with OP on O`Connell.

I said as soon as we signed Duffy that I was concerned. I just had a feeling he'd be a poor signing. Small, a bit rigid, not the fastest. Not athletic, or strong. Not a good age at 30 either. He will have to rely heavily on his technical ability making up the difference, because unfortunately he's not got a great deal else going for him.

I can understand not being totally enthused by Duffy's performances so far, I'd agree he's been less than impressive but let's not right him off.

I forget which season, but we played Scunthorpe at home and he bossed the game for them. It was one of the most impressive performances from a wide player I'd ever seen in person.

For this reason, and his form last year with Burton I have faith he'll be a good signing in time. Wide players generally struggle for consistency, especially at this level.

I don't care if it is O'Connell, Wilson, Wright, or Ebanks-Landell, I want one of the big lads to start making a name for himself running forward, knocking people out of the way and getting close to, or in to, the box, and having a crack on goal, not only does it lift the team, but it really lifts the supporters. A marauding, charging hard nut, yes please.

Duffy is an excellent player. His movement and willingness to get between the lines, as well offer for one-twos will become more and more evident. The goals will come eventually too.

The stick he gets is similar to that Squinny got. And we last saw him at a major international tournament, so he proved himself pretty conclusively in the end...

said pretty much the same on another thread. On another day if our forwards had their scoring boots on Duffy would've had 2 assists today. There's certainly signs that there's a quality player in him.

Dosen`t excuse him unerringly putting the ball 50 yards above the crossbar evey time he struck it though.

No, it doesn't but he's clearly lacking form, and I reckon he'll be a good player once he gains confidence and settles.

and somebody teaches him to hit a ball within the area of what is quite a large goal. It`s kinda what he`s paid a shit load of money to be able to do.

Without being too picky I`m more of a go 1 goal up.
Then get another 4 and fucking bury the oppossition mercilessly kinda Blade.

My preferred tactics are to get 6 goals up by half time and then go on the attack in the second half :-)

Mine too.
Clearly my expectations are sadly lowered from the halcyon years of Sir John Harris and Sir David Bassett.

He's well suited to playing LCB. He's good physically and good on the ball, confident and can bring it forward.

He has all the raw attributes to develop into a quality player. A full season of regular football should improve him considerably. Could easily be another Maguire. Brentford have form for letting quality centre halves leave.
