Based on today's game and the second half against Oxford, I can honestly say he's changed my mind.

To my very untrained eye, he looks like a cracking player.

Thought his tackling, organisation, positional sense and most impressively his passing were outstanding today.

Perhaps an opportunity to remind ourselves to not form strong opinions after 4 games?

Almost as if it's a really daft thing to do to write a player off before he's played half a dozen games.

As I say above, never wrote him off just thought he looked pretty run of the mill...

Can`t remember a worse showing than Duffys attempts to hit a cows arse with a paddle today in a very long time.

Agree with OP on O`Connell.

I picked Duffy out at Bolton as being a season at least off the pace..

Great result today, give me more of that, coming from behind two games in bounce ...we might be onto something..

Without being too picky I`m more of a go 1 goal up.
Then get another 4 and fucking bury the oppossition mercilessly kinda Blade.

I agree his trackling was outstanding.

I said as soon as we signed Duffy that I was concerned. I just had a feeling he'd be a poor signing. Small, a bit rigid, not the fastest. Not athletic, or strong. Not a good age at 30 either. He will have to rely heavily on his technical ability making up the difference, because unfortunately he's not got a great deal else going for him.

Actually as soon as we signed him you said you had no idea who he was and therefore couldn't really give an opinion.

Hate to nit pick but...

Got all the attributes to be a top player but needs to cut out the sloppy mistakes. Not jumping in the wall being a major one today. He's cost us more goals than anyone else so far but I'm sure he can cut them out as he gets more experienced

Yes that's fine, I was just pointing this wasn't based on anything as you didn't know anything about him.
Unless you'd been to see him, nobody knew much about him as we'd just signed him.

It was based on what I just described about him not having much pace, his height etc.

Two minute Google finds you that out.

There is some room for improvement for sure. However, he looks to have the makings of a good player and one that may go on to be able to play at a higher level. Looked decent when driving out of defence today.

We've got to remember when judging him > He is in a new side, he's had a new back 4 and had 2 keepers to play with. There's been no experienced head to help him through games at all. When combining all that it's not surprising there's been the odd error.

Duffy is an excellent player. His movement and willingness to get between the lines, as well offer for one-twos will become more and more evident. The goals will come eventually too.

The stick he gets is similar to that Squinny got. And we last saw him at a major international tournament, so he proved himself pretty conclusively in the end...

I'd leave it there if I were you Pete. I wouldn't want you with too much egg on your face come May 2017.

;):)

Don't worry Barn, I'll keep picking you up on your inconsistencies, even if you think no one noticed.

Like all the signings, they all need a bit of time to acclimatise and the benefit of the doubt.
